Hello, I can understand your frustration. Do you have any RN's on staff? Most places have at least 3 and in this case what a great opportunity for them to do educational in-services or at least be involved in a PI project to help you facilitate this change. Assign them aspects of the task and complete the project using a PI poster. Include the skills checklist in the project and assign that part as well. Here is a government website that may be useful. I am sorry to hear you were so upset over all of this. Is there a procedure your facility follows that indicates you must supply the patient with a syringe? If not then this is a real learning opportunity to complete a PI project. If there is then you really should talk this over with your supervisor, it should be written as a patient safety report. This should be done because if it happened to you it will happen to someone else and the outcome might not be the same the next time. I have had to remove urinary catheters before using STERILE scissors, but I have never used regular scissors much less cut the catheter on a routine basis. the recommendation to use sterile scissor is to err on the side patient in those rare but still possible "what if" moments. Using scissors should not be the go to answer just because it saves you time. I am a little disheartened to hear all the "jabs" at where healthcare is headed, your facility and so forth. But here is a little "jab" back not aimed at you but at another poster. If you do not know that you have had a STENT placed then maybe you should not be removing urinary catheters.

Sorry, I should have quantified I have been an RN for "greater than 10 years" but recently completed my BSN 30 May 2017. Conferral date is not until 12 August. My actual question should have been, Am I correct in believing that I can not use the BSN credentials until after conferral date? Thanks for your prompt reply.

When can you legally begin using your credentials after completing your bachelors? It is my understanding that you must wait until conferral date and not before? Anyone know what the answer is?

I am currently enrolled with APU. So far so good, no real issues. Just wish it could be done faster. 8 and 16 week classes offered.

Just wanted to know if anyone has information on what is required for APU/AMU Nursing 350 shadow assignment. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate your help. thanks
