  1. What are your facility's practice for EFM strips? Do you still print them or are they stored electronically? If you still print them, how are you storing them? Are they being scanned into the electronic medical record? If you are storing them, how long does your facility or your state require them to be kept? Lots of questions, I know. Just wondering what to do with this entire room of EFM strips from the past 8 years!!! Thanks for your help!! Jacquie, RN
  2. Does anyone have a specific guideline for when it is appropriate to use Cervidil for cervical ripening? We are working on guidelines for when it is appropriate for the doctor to use it. Case in point: G1 P0 dilated to 2 cm had Cervidil placed. Is that appropriate? I thought Cervidil was mainly for cervical ripening. Does it make sense to use it if the patient is already 2 cm? Does your facility have any more concrete guidelines for when Cervidil is used? Thanks for your help!!!
  3. I am curious to know the answer to a few questions about your unit, if you don't mind: 1. How many labor beds do you have? 2. How many physicians deliver in your unit? 3. Is it LDRP or just Labor with a move to a mother/baby unit after delivery? 4. How many births does your unit do in a year? 5. Do you have central monitoring? If so, which system? Trying to find out some info to get ready to convince our administration to purchase central monitoring for our unit. Thanks in advance for your answers!!!
  4. Just a quick survey: how does your unit handle staffing? Self scheduling? Cyclic schedule? Nurse manager/supervisor does the schedule working around days that staff requests off? Thanks for your input!!!
