  1. I was accepted at Mercy College for the Fall; morning classes. I've been hearing nothing but good things about Mercy College.
  2. I just took the Holistics class at the AP campus and found the Holistics class to be very difficult. The teacher was very nice but the tests were kind of tricky and we did not have open book. Only two people in my full class ended up with A's or A-'s. You had to take the tests word for word from the book and there were multiple answers for each question that could be correct. There were a few questions we disputed straight from the book but she wouldn't budge. Currently, this teacher was the only teacher teaching Holistics/nutrition and she only gave us two assignments and the rest of the points came from three tests. PM me if you're looking for names. I took Patho and Micro and had wonderful teachers!
  3. Good luck! I bought the study guide and made flashcards and had a study group with a couple of friends and we all found that the Kaplan exam guide was not helpful at all. The science questions are very vague for the most part so you will have to actually know the systems, parts and what they do. Don't focus on where the location is but more on the function of the system. I felt as if I knew the study guide inside-out and not one of the questions pertained to the areas of study fromt he guide. Study your handouts from your instructors and if at all possible, ask an old instructor if you can sit in a couple of A&P classes to refresh. Most people found the Math portion to be fairly easy. I had a couple of difficult questions but as long as you know your basic Algebra, you'll do fine. The Reading/Writing portions are also not so bad. Since the test is timed, I kind of kept watching the clock but I felt that I had more than enough time to finish the sections. Also, you're tested on your critical thinking. I'm not sure how they calculate the score but they score you on how many times you click on different answers to the questions, how fast you answer questions, etc. It's nerve-racking but just remember, EVERYONE has a hard time on the Kaplan. Just do your best!
  4. Thanks! That's what I keep seeing. Partial credits. I am going to have to contact another school if I don't get in since the program is just going to grow and continue to be more competitive, I hate the worrying and the anxiety of waiting to find out if you got in and so far, I keep hearing that I still have a chance...but even one of my friends with a 4.0 and a decent percentage on the Kaplan is nervous! I took the Kaplan. It sounded like everyone's scores were in the 60's-70's with only a couple of people scoring in the low 80's. No one scored higher than 85. I know I scored better than a lot of people but I don't know how many other people scored in the 70's. Bah! It's enough to make anyone go mad! The Kaplan test was insanly vague and difficult. Everyone I spoke with felt like they were not prepared even with the hours of studying. It was almost like you either know it or you don't and there was no way to really prepare.
  5. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what schools might take Baker College credits? I currently have all of my required pre-req's for their current nursing program. However, preparing for the chance that I do not make it in this year, I want to have another possible option. Currently I have completed 59 credits: AP I, AP II - 10 credits Medical Terminology - 4 credits Microbiology - 5 credits Intro to Healthcare - 4 credits General Psychology - 4 credits Human Holistics/Nutrition - 4 credits Pathophysiology - 4 credits Comp I, Comp II - 8 credits Elect Spreadsheets - 2 credits Intro to Database Solutions - 2 credits Algebra - 4 credits Oral Communications - 4 credits Workplace Communications - 4 credits Their programs are very competitive and you are penalized for re-taking/transferring any classes so if you received a B+ in a SCI class, you are unable to retake it and with their programs being so competitive, a B+ is sometimes a major handicap. Even a program change can hinder your chances of getting into a competitive program. Needless to say, I received a B+ in a core science class. If someone has any experience with transferring from Baker College, please let me know how the transfer went and what classes you may have had to retake? Thank you!
