Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
KhiaMarie, You absolutely can take your pre-reqs in January, and then test in September for the evening. It is exactly what i did. Pre reqs are Bio 121, Eng 101 amd Chem 101 or 103. I am actually taking Soc 101 right now. I have alreay taken Psy 101 and Math 100 is not a pre req (although i have taken it). If you plan on getting into the program be sure to do exceptionally in you pre reqs as well as on the exam. As LapoRtan said, you will get better info from the Nursing Dept or Blue area. Check out the link below for more info: http://www.essex.edu/divisions/nursing/pdf/RN_Admission%20Criteria%202011%20(Rev%20May2010).pdf

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
lapoRtaN, Hypothetically Speaking, If by chance i do get accepted, what do you think about taking NUR I and Micro together? I was told by a counselor not to take them at the same time, but this counselor also told me not to take Bio 121 and Chm 101 at the same time, but i ended up getting an A in both. I'm just not sure about the challenges of Nursing classes.

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
YKN6000, I can understand how you might not feel very confident. I don't think that anyone can truly feel confident until they've received the letter informing them that they were accepted. Ultimately, that is what we are looking to receive. Try to keep positive thoughts... YKN6000 we are all in the same boat at this point. Best of luck to you!

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
I have a couple of people in one of my classes that are scheduled to take the test on Monday 10/31... Last week, they opened up more test dates for this week and Monday, then a couple of folks went and changed their date to this upcoming Monday. I was thinking that the process would be delayed...I hope that it does not.

YKN6000, It seems that you are probing to find out how everyone else did but you are hiding your results... Thats fine though...Wish you the best! Good Luck to all those awaiting acceptance letters.

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
Hopefully, we'll know by Thanksgiving, but the wait is killing me! What are your scores?

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
Hi Ykn, When did you take the test? My overall score was a 142 which is the 97th percentile...i hope that's strong enough.....how did you do?

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
At least you have a back up plan Miracle because i dont have one. My only plan at the moment is to get into the program and finish it as an RN. If by chance i am not accepted, i would be devestated and but i'd have to move on. You are already prepared for anything, which is excellent. I truly do believe that the 50% is based on the middle column though. It might also depend on how you scored against the other applicants too though. I think you might be fine....Well unfortunately have to wait though.

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
Wow, Congrats on getting accepted into Rutgers! You are pretty far along already, it sounds like you have a backup plan though. The nursing program would extend your stay in Essex...which are you most passionate about? Either way, i wish you all the best of luck!

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
Hopefully, i did well enough....i'm hoping. :) My percentile scores (last column) are: Verbal 83, Math 98 & Science 96 ...I also made it over the 50% mark in the 2nd column. Hopefully, we'll be starting the program together!

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
Before taking the test, all counselors and such said that you need to get at least 50% correct in all categories to be entered into the program...I assume that that is the middle column only because they didn't say that you need to get into the 50th percentile as the 3rd column is the percentile column for each section... You did best in Verbal and usually, this is where folks get their lowest score. Were there lots of people testing when you took the test? There were three people (including me) on the date that i tested.

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
Miracle86 when it comes to the Math you going to really need to know how to work out the problems because you will not have enough time to put a lot of thought into each problem. When you think about the amount of time you have and the number of questions; you have about a minute for each problem. You are provided with even less time for the completion of the Verbal and Science sections. I also had two study guides!

Essex County College Fall 2011 Nursing Exam
Hi Miracle86, I wish you all the best this Friday; Good Luck! My only tip to you would be to use the pre-exam study guide to not only brush-up, but also to test yourself to gauge your strengths and weakness so you can understand what needs to be the focus of your studies....Know your Math and Science. The Verbal section is a little difficult to prepare for as word knowledge is accumulative. I was just as nervous and anxious as you...you can do this! I hope I get in too...
