  1. I'm in Virginia Beach, so it takes me about 45 minutes without traffic, but I am going to time the drive again today and see. My biggest concern is my kids have to be in school at 8 am, and picked up at 2:30, which my hubby can usually handle but there will be days when he has to go to work early and that will really be tough for me.
  2. Got my GED in the mail on Friday and going in to pay the fee and turn in my paperwork today! What did you guys find out when you went in? I am still very apprehensive at this point, the drive really makes me worried, I may have to trade in my truck for a very fuel efficient car!!
  3. I did! I got my acceptance letter really late, and I am headed over today to turn in my paperwork and pay the fee to hold my spot. It has been a very long journey for me as well. I am still very apprehensive about the drive (I am in Virginia Beach) and the fact that it is a diploma program that is 2 years long.
  4. Thanks. NY won't do that already tried, and they charged me $20 for it already with a 3-6 week wait. But they did say I can come to their service window and get it the same day though...in Albany NY! That would be one very expensive transcript! Also, calling up there is a joke, when they transfer you to customer service, you get one of those old fashioned busy signals instead of a live person. Email communication is another joke, my replies have come back with no name or signature attached to the body of the message. Simply "Your transcript is scheduled to go in the mail tomorrow". Oh well, and I know it's hard to get in, but I never imagined this would be why. Best of luck to you all who made it in this time though.:anpom:
  5. I got in for Jan 2012...but unfortunately my stupid GED transcript is still not here, and so I got a call from admissions today that my money and my transcript is overdue and if not received by this week then my spot will go to someone else. I am really angry about it, I have a Bachelor's degree and 2 associates degrees from 2 different schools, and they are going to give my spot to someone else because a GED transcript from 14-years ago has not arrived yet. Thanks New York State Department of Education for screwing me over one last time!!! I emailed them 2 weeks ago and they said it would be in the mail the next day! On the other hand, I trust that whatever happens is exactly what was meant to happen. There are other programs out there for me, and paying $285 to a school who requires a copy of my LOWEST level and oldest of academic achievement rather than the most recent is ridiculous if they are going to give that spot away to someone else anyway.
  6. no, nothing! This is starting to make me a little worried!! Has anyone received anything yet, a yes or a no? I am going to go ahead and apply to the Norfolk State accelerated BSN against all advice. It is only 13 months and would get me a second bachelors, but I heard from several people that the HESI exam to graduate is a beast.
  7. No, nothing. Maybe they didn't get them out on Thursday after all, because they should have definitely been here by now. It usually takes 1 day for mail to get from Newport News to Virginia Beach, but *fingers crossed* I will be checking my mail as soon as the mailman pulls up to my box today!
  8. No I got a phone call, but the letters are in the mail already. They only called me because my GED transcript in my package was not the official copy they want, so I had to send for an official GED through New York state since that's where I got it. The admissions rep told me the letters were going out on Thursday so I needed to hurry up and get that document to them. She didn't say I got in, but she made it clear to me that they wanted that document before they sent out any letter to me.
  9. Hey just wanted to share some info I got on acceptance letters. I am also an applicant for the Jan 2012 RN cohort. Last week, I got a call from admissions to go over some of my application. I had gone in for my interview the week before, and so the admissions rep was just clearing some things up with me. But she did inform me that acceptance letters were going in the mail on Thursday (9/8)! I imagine they should be in your mail boxes on Monday or Tuesday the latest! I wish you all the best, and please post if you got in, this is my first time applying and I scored an 85.3 on the TEAS. I took all my pre-rqs at TCC because my undergrad was not a health science Bachelor's, so it has taken me almost 2 years on top off a 4-year degree to be eligible to apply!! I'm also an EMT in Virginia Beach, so hoping they will consider my experience as well.
