Is it possible to get into a nursing program with no prior experience in healthcare?
hi everyone i'm new to this forum, but so happy that i found it. so i'm doing my prereqs right now, so far gpa looks pretty good i was majoring in law in different country and had 3.1 cumulative gpa, but currently it is 3.8 at a community college that i'm taking my prereqs at, took ap 1 - B, micro - A, lifespan - A, pschycology - A, nutrition - A, and taking the rest in fall and spring. my main question is if i (hopefully) do good in HESI do i have a shot because i have no prior experience in healthcare? i'm in houston area which i think is crazy competative. never even volunteered, which i was thinking about, would that help when it comes to admissions, or is it not an important criteria since it's not really a real paid job? i have a baby so i'm staying at home right now, but trying to keep up with school. i read someone else's post that they had a 3.65 in prereqs gpa and 3.1 in their previous major gpa and DIDN'T GET IN so that scares me! if they look at OVERALL academic performance is having a 3.1 in law major worse than not having any previous education?? so if that's the case should i retake my general education classes like math, comp1&2, sociology, computer skills, arts and etc. here i.e. at an american school and not mention my previous coursework in law from another country? and last thing is it true that its easier to get in in spring than in fall? any feedback will be appreciated, thanks guys and good luck!

HCC Spring 2012-Houston Community College
hopeful_2013 you've been a blessing here! i have a few questions too. i registered for intro to psychology and ap1 right now and want to apply for fall 2012. i am probably not ready yet and late to apply for spring 2012, (am i?) you have to finish your prereqs even before aplying right? or you can be studying them? so if i get selected to take pharmacology when will i take it? if i apply by april 1 (deadline for fall 2012) are they gonna let me take it in summer so i finish it in time to register for fall? 2. do i only need to complete my prereqs or like it says in the book they strongly suggest that i finish my academic courses to? ap2, microbiology, composition2, lifespan, speech and etc? 3. everybody is talking about the maths test here. when people say here test out on pharmacology maths what does it mean? is there suppose to be a coma between these words or pharmacology course is a maths course? or there are 2 different exams - pharmacology and maths? also i am a transfer student, i have an a in maths statistics which is higher than what they require - an intermediate algebra, do i still have to test out - take a test or they can just count it as if i completed this course and not have to pass a maths exam, is it the one people talking about getting 90% or higher? is it it? 4. to get in to the program you have to take teas now instead of hesi? or you can take either or? where do you take them? at coleman or online? and what are the procedures for it? i heard that they take a picture of you during the exam to make sure that you are you, is it true? thank you so much in advance for all my silly questions. i am just very nervous how i am gonna make it among thousands of other candidates
