1. The yellow Saunders book?
2. Thank you! Just found it and it's not very expensive at all, 3 week - 50$, 5 week 70$. That's nothing compared to Kaplan and Hurst. Will most likely do the Kaplan and I'll look into it some more and probably get this as well. The Kaplan class is twice a week, so I'll have time in between the classes to do questions.
3. Hello! I know I should be writing in the student nurse section but I believe that you guys, as nurses who took the NCLEX already would know more about this. I'm unsure of what NCLEX review to attend, I've been hearing about Kaplan, Hurst and ATI and would like to see what helped you all the most. I'm open to other suggestions also. I'll be taking my NCLEX around July
4. There has to be something I'm doing wrong here...My grade is suffering badly, we just had our second exam and I received a mid-term warning today...I don't know if I even have a chance anymore...and it's not that I don't study because I do. I try to study whenever I have time but as a mom, it's hard to get quiet time...I just don't know anymore.
5. I need help...I'm trying to decide which care plan I should buy, I went on amazon and I see a few with good reviews but what's the best care plan book you guys own? Since I'm new at this
6. I love all of your feedback, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I'm trying to stay focused and not have another one of those moments since our exam is less than a week away! My husband said "don't let that happen again, cuz when it does, you get nothing done for the rest of the night, think positive and you'll be ok" and he's right! When that happened, I was stressed out about not getting enough studying time and then I was mentally drained and got nothing done after that! So I'm just taking it one step at a time and hope for the best :)
7. I feel a little silly when I think back to it. I found out today that one of my close friends did the same last week so I'm not alone lol
8. So last night....I was feeling overwhelmed and stressed out about class...new nursing student and first exam is next week. I feel like I haven't been studying as much as I should be because of family life (house full of my husbands family and our own little family) and it got to me soooo bad last night to the point where I just broke down, like crying my eyes out for 20 min...rethinking everything...and just unsure of myself. I know I want to do this though, so I put those thoughts to the side....I don't know, I guess just feeling unprepared is getting me so nervous...Who else has been through this? Help :/
9. if it's your first time applying, I'm 100% sure you don't have to write any kind of letter to the head of nursing. the school has a nurse available, no doctors. the medical form...take about 2 weeks to complete with the blood work and everything. I was accepted and started class this semester, I did not write a letter to anyone...you have to take the pre-reqs and once you're done with that, take the NLN exam....there are forms on the CSI website for nursing stuff, dates and all that. go on there and just follow what they ask for

ok, so this might sound stupid but I'm stuck on this one question from a quiz I'm taking and we haven't learned about this yet so...help would be appreciated According to common practice, when are the bed linens usually changed?

Before giving the bath

Following the bath

After receiving visitors

Before bed

I would think it's before giving the patient a bath but we watched a video in class where the nurse was giving the patient a bed bath, then she changed the linens...so...I don't know. And I know it's not before bed or after receiving visitors...
12. 17 books?? lol I have like maybe 6 or 7. good luck with everything!!
13. Cannot believe that the summer is 2 days away from being over. First nursing class starts on Mondaaayyy! I'm so nervous. We have a lecture class, lab, and clinical all on separate days so that's 3 days a week. But Monday is not actually a lecture class (which all the other sections have either a lecture of lab). Our class is going to the hospital. I would have liked to have a lecture before we go to clinical because the lecture should tell you what to expect for clinical....no?....We shall see how it goes! I'm both nervous and excited....but more nervous.....But I have everything ready for clinical...there was a lot of websites to sign up for too..like ATI, thepoint, evolve, prep U.....and some other sites....I should make a list of them so I don't forget about them..... Wish everyone who has started or is starting --> good luck!!!!
14. To answer your question....Meeee!! lol
15. I took this class last semester. It really wasn't that bad! I found it pretty easy actually. Probability & statistics was way harder than this. You should be fine! don't even worry about it. I can't remember at this moment the book we used but I'm sure any book about med. dosage would help you out a lot. It's basically the same concept once you get started. My prof. made us memorize abbreviations and a conversion sheet. Approved Drug Administration Abbreviation General C with S without NS normal saline Cap Capsule Tab tablet Susp. Lol, wow, everyone seems to have different color scrubs. Ours are just...all white! Top, bottom, and shoes. The most white I've ever worn at once, except for my wedding day. I think I look weird in white but they're not that bad. I guess I just have to get used to them! And the brand...isn't like scrub material, it's like a cotton material. I guess mine aren't as bad as some others :)
17. hahahaha that's a great idea!! I didn't buy a cover for it...didn't even know they had that actually lol I feel so new to things! I think I should just put it in my pocket though. I got the pinkish one so I think I'll be ok too lol :)
18. Hmmm....this sound so familiar. lol I always said that to my husband. "It's taking forever! I don't have the time to be doing this, and I'm not even in the program yet!" yes, that was me, all the time. Different situation though. I took 2 semesters off, one when I got married, the other when I had my son. then after I had my son, I was going part time...like 6-8 credits. It took me so long to get to this point, got accepted into the nursing program for fall 2012...and it's the greatest feeling ever!!! it was so worth it! It took me like 2 years I think, for the pre-reqs, for AAS and for BS pre-reqs. now I just have the nursing classes left. your 2 year into 3, what about me?? I still have another 3-4 years of nursing classes for BS, on top of the 2 years I spent taking general ed classes and pre-reqs >_ Don't get discouraged! you can do it, think positive! I always said "if i get into the nursing program"...and my husband and friends always corrected me to "not if, but when you do" so I think that helped a lot, knowing that they believe in me when I didn't believe in myself.
19. Good luck to both of you!!! have you guys started reading yet or no?? lol it's a lottt, but it's doable. we have a good amount of time left :)
20. I only read a few of the first comments and I wanted to reply to your post. Personally, I don't agree with abortion at all. I had my son 10 days before my 20th birthday (I'm 22 now). I took a semester off from school and went back once he got older, then I registered him into my schools daycare. I've been bringing him to school with me, dropping him off at the daycare, and picking him up after my class is over. They give you study hours. It's like 2$ an hour at my school. Now I'm preparing to start nursing program and still will be doing the same thing with him. Of course it's hard, but it's worth having him. He makes me want to do better. I love him more than anything in this world. But this is your decision, I hope you make the right one and good luck with everything, keep us updated!
21. Yeah I know, I'm taking notes on my readings though. I'm sure they will come in handy.
22. Lol I know, I have a lot of time And I'm sure I'll finish it all with notes written and typed out and all, it's just scary a little I guess. Not knowing what to expect. But it's exciting as well. Thank you, good luck to you too!
23. 30 chapters?! And I thought mine was bad.... :/
24. Lol, yeah, I have to figure out what's important and what's now. I hope I'm doing a good job so far...and I just said that like an hour ago to y husband. That I should type out my notes and it'll also help me learn the info. better as I'm reading it and typing it
25. Yeah, it's kinda intimidating, you know? I know it's a big book and they only want is to do good and be ahead of te game. That's all they talked about at the orientation...was falling behind on our readings. I'm almost done with chater 2! Lol 11 more to go...it woulda been nice if we at least had a class before they gave us all this reading. They didn't say what to focus on, which I guess means just focus on everything! Thank you, I need all the luck I can get lol
