  2. Hi, i just finished the evening program. If you are an evening student you have no choice of hospital, its always winthrop. The section you choose usually determines what group you are in for clinical (which classmates).
  3. just do the reading and study consistently. we were laughing last night at how we look back at what we had to do in 101 and hwo terrifying it was compared to what we know and have to do now! it really is amazing how far you can come so have faith in yourself even when you mess up and may feel discouraged. professor buckley and professor snow are excellent professors who give you the tools you need to succeed. I check the boards periodically so post any questions you might have!
  4. hi! i am jsut completing the nursing evening program this monday. They only offer start for evening in the fall, meaning nursing 101 is only available for evening students in fall semester. when you compelte that you do nursing 105 in the spring. If you dont pass that and need to repeat nursing 105 you can only repeat in the evening the falling spring. does that make sense?
  5. thank you for replying! i am willing to take any job once i graduate but just wanted more information :)
  6. This is an old post but bumping it. Graduating from NCC on the 18th and hopefulyl going to be cleared to take the boards late june or july. My friend works at LIJ as a NICU nruse, told me they will hire with an associates provided you get the BSN. I also think Brookhaven and Mercy hire associates nurses. Keeping my fingers crossed and remaining optimistic that my future is bright (just as bright as a BSN nurse LOL)
  7. it is alot of work and does get more challenging each semester but if you are committed you can do it. its the mindset you have goign in each day and each week and each semester that helps you succeed when it seems too rough!
  8. I currently in the evening program now at NCC , pinning is may 18th. Congrats to all that have been accepted. It will be a tiring long journey but well worth it in the end. Soem days you will feel why did I sign up for this but each day and each thing you learn and clicks makes it all worth it.
  9. hi all! I am going to be graduating from NCC this May with my associates in nursing, taking the nclex hopefully in july. I know that hospitals do not take RNs that dont have bachelors but i have a connection that can possibly get me a job ibn a nursing home. Just wondering what the pay rate in a LTC facility is as compared to the hospital these days. Honestly will be happy with any job and i feel that working in a care facility would be very rewarding. Any input/insight is appreciated! thanks
  10. DaisyDukes987 - i just completed my 1st year in the NCC evening nursing program. Had professor **** for both semesters (night professors dont change for lecture, you have the same fall and spring), she was lovely and you will really enjoy your first year. Both her and professor ****** are caring, supportive and encouraging at the times you may feel most discouraged. Good luck!
  11. Hey all! I am starting this fall in the evening program - wondering if anyone else is doing evenings?! i work full time and i know this is going to be super duper hard so need some moral support on here LOL
  12. i am just hoping the idiots (for lack of a better term!) are the ones applying when i do in the spring , so i have a better chance of getting in for the fall! i hate to have to wait!
  13. 4.0 times # of credits
  14. Hi all! For anyone intersted, i went to the NCC nursing information session this morning since i am looking to apply in the spring for the fall classes. The calculation they use for entrance is based on your gpa (includes all classes taken that are part of the curriculum, not just the pre-reqs if you have taken more then them) times the number of credits you have towards the curriculum. Found that interesting since i had heard many people ask about the way they determine. Hopefully when i apply in the spring there wont be many applicants going for evenings and they wont have too high a gpa or more credits then me (wishful thinking LOL) also, some of the people in the class ask the most ridiculous questions, they should be immediately eliminated from applying for the program for not being able to understand even the admission process! (sorry for being mean!)
  15. Going to apply for the nursing program at nassau in March after i get the A&P pre-req completed. Just wondering if anyone on the board is currently doing the nursing program there at night? How the class load is , etc? I am a virgo so i plan ahead, looking to see how people are doing!!
