  1. Hi GOODMED, Yes those classes will count towards a BSN degree, just make sure the school will accept the credits as some schools are very particular about what they will accept. As far as health administration, patho and physiology will more than likely not count. I have my masters in Health Administration and we didn't have to take any "science" classes. It was more along the line of management.
  2. This is so sweet. I was smiling all the way through. I wish you the best. Study hard with an intent to understand and be confident; you will pass.
  3. Whoa!!!! I think you need to breathe and read your username.
  4. BeccaBSN: Most morning classes begin at 8:00am. However, that are clinicals that begin at 7:00 am, so you need to be mindful of that.
  5. Their main focus is the GPA. If it's above 3.0 you have a strong chance. If you have some kind of working experience I think that helps you as well, it doesn't necessarily have to be volunteer hours. The program is intense and one needs to be highly organized, manage their time well and study, study, study. The material isn't hard per se (although I'm only in Level 1) but it's a lot which can become overwhelming if you don't keep up with your reading. We normally have a least one exam per week, group projects, labs and clinical. Good luck to you.
  6. catquint - If the NursingCas process is still the same I believe you have two options. You could either submit the rec. forms electronically in which you have to provide the email addresses of those whom you want to fill it out on your behalf. Or you could print the form and have your forms mailed in. The electronic version is much faster and leaves room for little error, so I would go with that if you could. Good luck!
  7. Marki'sMom - I'm sorry to hear that. Please do not be discouraged at all. You've gotten great suggestions so far. Also, I would definitely reapply for the Summer 2012, as long as you've met the GPA requirements. I know a girl who applied to the UMDNJ PA program and she didn't get accepted the first time around, she called and asked why. She was told she wasn't a strong candidate. She did some internships and applied the following semester, got wait-listed, and eventually got a call right before the deadline date for acceptance. I say all that to say, keep trying! I wish you the best.
  8. For the Newark students, Teas test will take place the second day of orientation - Dec. 2, which will include a writing assessment.
  9. Can you give an honest evaluation of the program overall?
  10. If you manage your time well, you could definately take all those classes and do well.
  11. You could take Pharmacology and/or Pathophysiology, those classes will count towards your BSN degree.
  12. Orientation doesn't start until Dec. 1 (next Thurdsay) so there is still time for those that haven't heard a response yet. I do hope and pray that you'll receive favorable news! Does anyone know if UMDNJ does a waiting list?
  13. Nice to see more people joining in this thread! Thanks PhiladelphiaLove for taking the time to answer questions. JustFiguringItOut - my GPA from my master's program was a 3.96, my undergrad GPA was a 2.6. As, long as you meet the minimum 3.0 GPA requirement you don't have much to worry about. In regards to the pre-req classes I got all A's in them. But again their main focus is the GPA. You should try and go to one of the information sessions they hold. I found it to be very helpful and informative. There, you can also get all your questions/concerns addressed. I wish you the best of luck.
  14. This was my first time applying and I got accepted, so I don't think that's true.
  15. Oh, I definitely know that all applicants don't sign up or post on this website. But with that said, there have only been about 6-7 people who have posted in this thread. In past threads there have been a lot more posters. It may or may not mean anything at the end of the day, but it was just an observation. Goodluck and I wish everyone the best!!!!
  16. Congrats to those who've gotten their acceptance letters. I got accepted for the Newark campus. For those that are still waiting for a response, I know you're anxious but if the amount of people who reply/comment in this thread is an indication of how many people have applied, I think you have a pretty good chance. Previous threads seemed to have much more people/applicants.
  17. Thank you guys!! My application was completed with NCAS at the end of August. In mid September I received an email from UMD stating that I needed to submit my syllabus for chemistry, which I did the very next day. They emailed me again the following day stating they got the syllabus, it has been submitted for review and my application is pending. At the end of September, I received the acceptance letter. So the whole process was about a month from when NCAS completed and submitted the application from UMD.
  18. I received my acceptance letter yesterday. I hope everyone starts receiving theirs soon.
  19. AMiner - Has your GPA been computed yet? I certainly hope we'll be classmates too. enilrek - I took the class at HCCC. The issue I'm having is that the transcript says "College Chemistry", however that is what HCCC considers "General Chemistry" and that is what is written on the syllabus. I called UMD and was told that they have to make a decision based on that and that I'll receive a response via mail soon. *fingers crossed* amwpillai - Congratsssss!!! You must be so relieved.
  20. Hi AMiner, My application was completed the last week in August with GPA calculations, references and transcripts. I think what happened is that the initial deadline date was Sept. 7, so they are reviewing applications that have been submitted since then (which I think is fair). When did you submit all your information? Maybe you can give NursingCAS a call. Best of luck!
  21. I've applied and all of my documents have been received and processed by NursingCas. The only thing was UMDNJ emailed me last week and asked me to submit my syllabus for the pre-requisite chemistry class I took. I found that a little odd. Right now I'm just waiting on pins and needles, waiting for a response. I hope they start replying soon.
  22. The deadline date is for the school. All of your transcripts have to be in by the deadline date. However, NursingCas will accept and process your transcripts after the deadline date. You can call UMDNJ and explain your situation and see if they will work something out with you.
  23. Marki's Mom, I don't think you're late. I was told they don't start reviewing any of the applications until after the deadline date. So you should be good. I'm hoping to find out when they'll be sending out letters as well. Anyone know?
  24. Hi, I was wondering if you knew which community colleges in NJ offer the pharmacology course. Thanks
