Born a sooner, I got into UMB so I will be going there too!

My friend is commuting right now to UMB and she pays $5/day for parking, just for those who were wondering

I am in-state (about 40 minutes away) but I plan on moving to the city. I know there are two apartment complexes you can live in through the university. My friend lived in one last year and they are really nice, but hers was a little pricey. I'm looking into renting a townhouse since it's cheaper. I am probably going to get a 4-bedroom with two current nursing students, so if anyone is planning on moving to Baltimore and is interested in a townhouse, let me know!

For those who got accepted to the Baltimore campus: are any of you planning on moving to the city?

Just found out I am on the wait list. Hopefully spots will open up once people get acceptance letters elsewhere (like UMB). I am worried!

Did you find out about being accepted to the actual university before hearing from the nursing school? Or did you get accepted to both at the same time? I applied to both (the university and the nursing program) and haven't heard from either. Getting kind of nervous...

I also applied. I had to apply to Towson University itself since I don't go there now. Not sure if I'll hear the response from the actual university and the nursing program at the same time? Hopefully it'll be soon though!

That's a good sign! It means that your application is ready to be seen by the committee. Mine switched from "Complete and Ready to Review" to "Committee Ready" a few weeks ago. Nothing to worry about :)

AprilAnney -- Congrats! Which Plan B school did you get into?

Are you sure it's not AP scores?? Because mine said "requirements outstanding" since I didn't send my AP scores (they didn't apply to my prerequisites). When I told the office that, they switched my status to "Complete and Ready for Review." Otherwise, maybe it's just taking a little long to sort everything out since they probably had a ton of applications come in last week. I'm sure you're fine so don't worry! I'd just call Tuesday to double check.

Well the only AP credit I have is towards English, but I took two English courses at my college anyway that fulfill both English requirements. The lady on the phone said if the credit doesn't count towards my prerequisites, it's fine and I don't have to send them.

Nevermind -- I just called. They said they were waiting on my AP scores but none of my AP scores apply to my prerequisites haha so they changed the status

TEAS IV wasn't bad at all. I know UMB accepts it but I don't know if you can still take it - it might just be the TEAS V that's available. Do you know how long the statement of goals and objectives should be? Mine is a little under 2 pages, but I don't know if it is supposed to be a page or less...

I'm sure you'll be fine. If anything, they might just make your acceptance conditional in that you have to get a B or better in those last 6 classes. At least that is what happened to my friend who applied to UMB with a bunch of classes remaining. I took TEAS IV because I heard it was easier than V, but hopefully the TEAS V won't be too bad. Hi! I am applying for Spring 2012 admission, as well. I am really nervous! I took the TEAS IV awhile ago, but need to take the TEAS V for my backup school (Towson) so I will be taking that in about a week. I am just a little bit worried because even though my TEAS scores, recommendation letters, essays, etc. are all good, my grades from my sophomore year of college are not. Luckily, none of my sophomore year classes were nursing prerequisites and I have gotten all As and Bs in the classes that are, so I hope they don't focus too much on them! I still am above a 3.0 though, which I believe is the minimum GPA requirement. How are the rest of you doing? Have you submitted your application yet? Good luck!!

Thanks for your advice! I actually ended up explaining my situation via e-mail since I thought it might be wasting their time to schedule a meeting for a really quick question. They ended up telling me to give them a call and on the phone, they told me it probably wouldn't be necessary to retake the course. Very exciting news!

I am applying to a nursing school, but have a concern about my application that I wanted to address. I took a course two years ago (unrelated to nursing) and received a D in it. I wanted to check with the Admissions Office at the nursing school if they recommend me retaking the class to better my chances of being accepted (even though the class was not a nursing prerequisite) or if it is not necessary. I am planning on e-mailing the Admissions Director at the school to ask if I could meet with him and discuss the concerns I am having, but I don't want to come off as trying to score an interview (since the normal application process does not include interviews) or not being appropriate. I just don't want to waste money and time retaking this class if it really is not necessary. Do you think it is OK to e-mail him and ask to set up a meeting to discuss my concern?

Hey everyone -- I am just interested in knowing other people's GPAs who have been accepted (or are even applying) to the UMB Nursing program. I am applying for the spring and have excellent TEAs scores, recommendation letters, job experience, and essays. However, my GPA is low (3.2). I have a couple C+s and one D on my transcript from pre-medical classes that lowered it. I have since gotten all As and Bs in my nursing prereqs. How important do you think GPA plays a role? Did anyone get accepted with a low GPA but shined in all the other areas? I'm just getting a little nervous! Thanks!

I did over 100 hours of volunteer work at one hospital. I did random volunteer work (one day events, etc) in high school and some in college, but probably not a substantial amount to really mention on my resume. I've had some decent internships: one in the OR of a hospital, another with the government, and one with a well known doctor in his clinic. Hopefully that will help me out a little.

I have great recommendations and job experience, and my application essay is unique and captivating (in my opinion). I also scored an 87% on the TEAS. HOWEVER, my GPA is low! I have a 3.2 because I switched from pre-med to nursing. The pre-med classes killed me (I have one D and a couple C+s on my transcript), but I have gotten all As and Bs in my nursing prerequisites. How heavily will they weigh my GPA and pre-med classes? Do I still have a decent shot of getting in?
