All depends on who you are talking to and what you are looking for. I used to live in Tacoma and absolutely HATED it. I hated the city, the gangs, ect. Plus it didn't help that the polution and smog made my asthma develop into steroid dependent:angryfire Now I live in Sequim.:balloons: Absolutly love it!!:balloons: :rotfl: It is a small town near Port Angeles. We can jump on a ferry and in 40 minutes be in Victoria Canada. If Iwant to go to Seattle (which I do like). I just have a 1 hour drive/ferry. For the cost of our 1 bedroom apartment in Tacoma we are renting a 3 bedroom house on 1/4 acre about 1/2 mile from a beach where I can take my dog and go crabbing. Granted LPN's make about $1.00/hr less. But my husband works for the state and transered over with the same pay scale. I wouldn't trade if for the world. And one of the best things about it, Sequim is in the the "rain shadow" of the Olympic Mountains. When you compare Seattle/Tacoma that average about 44 inches of rain a year:crying2: Sequim gets about 16 inches a year. And we still get the beutiful northwest scenery. But to each their own.

Hi I'm new to this website. I am thinking of finishing my RN through EC. I have not been working for three years though, due to illness. But I plan on getting a job here in a couple of months. I am getting disability now and if I work part time I will not make enough money to lose my disability. So that is nice that I can work and have experience and still get money from the government. Plus I live in WA and I need 200 hours of preceptorship in order to finish my degree throuh EC. Anyone out there live in WA? How hard is the preceptorship? Before I got sick I worked in an ICU step down unit in a fairly big tramu hosipital for about 2 and 1/2 years. I took care of tramua case, open hearts one day post op, lost of cool stuff. Also after the RN did the initiatl assessment depending on who I was working with I would do the other assessments during the shift. I could also hang IV meds and push some. I also had some esxperience with central lines (PICC's, Hickmans) But nothing like Swann's or that. Then I did agency work on top of that for about 6 months. And I graducated in the top of my LPN class in Mar 1999. I have been trying to keep up on the latest trends in nursing. So I feel pretty comforatble with my study habits and accute care skills. I think I have enough skills to make it thgough but I am pretty nervous. Does anyone out there have any pointers for me. The only thing I am worried about it the focus I need to doo this throug distance learning and I have read some horror stories about the clinicals. Are the clinicals really that bad??? Thanks I posted this in a couple different areas so I could get different responses. Is this what I am supposed to do. I am pretty new to this.
