This is a truly evidence-based model with outside, independent research by Rosalie Kane, Susan Horn, Barbara Bowers and others. It certainly is based upon humanism and person-directed care but it is committed to deinstitutionalizing skilled care to support meaningful life and engagement for the elders who live in the home. And uses a specific methodology to work with organizations for comprehensive transformation. It is the most powerful work I have done in the past 30 years of working toward deep change.

I have been working with The Green House Project - conceived us by Dr. Bill Thomas for the past 4 years and have worked in Gerontological Nursing for many years. This model supports nurses to be real champions of person-directed care. The roles of nurses in The Green House model are: Care Role Model, Gerontological Nurse experts, Care Partners, and Mentors and Teachers. It is an evidence-based model.
