I missed a call from LSU a few days ago (Monday I think?) but they never called back. Just like Jen, I will be attending UTHealth, so hopefully that opens another spot for somebody that was wait listed? Good luck y'all!

I looked in to it... Seems like a common sense mixed with critical thinking test to see how you are with simple shapes, words, etc.

My invite is for Sept 9th. I wonder how many are typically interviewed.

I got audited. The audit is basically a sheet of paper your manager or director signs which you'll mail back with a copy of your nursing license.

I applied too. I like Frogs25's timeline. It seems like late July or early Aug would be a good time to find out about an interview held in early Sept. TCU seems really good about getting stuff done quickly! Does anybody know if Research or Stats taken at another CRNA DNP school will transfer to satisfy those courses at TCU? Any current students that have done that? Any help appreciated. Good luck all!! Will chime in if I hear anything.

Allnurses actually changed the name of the other website I posted back to allnurses. Apparently they don't want us using any other resources that are more specific to our goals... Search the web for nurse-anesthesia and you'll find the forums I'm talking about.

Congrats guys!! I know for us a few semesters ago, people were notified in alphabetic order based on our last name.Are you guys early in the alphabet?

That's right Cynthia. Most of our class still had yellow triangles when we got the acceptance letter (it never changed for me). If you're taking prereqs currently this semester, they will have made the decision and sent you your acceptance before you even finish. You would still need to send a final transcript at the end of this semester to have all your requirements satisfied, by which time you'll already be enrolled, vaccinated and done with your CPR. If anybody wants to go ahead and get CPR out of the way (good for 2 yrs), now is a good time to work on that. Even if you don't get accepted, it's a valuable skill that you won't regret learning. You need BLS for health care providers class from the AHA (www.heart.org). Also, if you get free Flu shots and PPDs from work (you might if you're in health care), go ahead and make sure you get those too. I assume everybody should have Meningitis already (should have it if you're attending college)... you'll need that if not. There's plenty of things you COULD be getting done early, but these are just some easy things that would still be beneficial to you or that you'll probably need anyways even if you don't get accepted.

If I remember correctly... Sciences 4.0 Prereqs 3.85 Overall 3.69 Hesi 91 Critical Thinking 880 All my prereqs were done at HCC. I don't have a prior degree (I mention this because it seems to me like MOST of my classmates do). I was also an EMT and Army medic for 7 years, which I'm not sure factored in.

The J1 is your first semester in nursing school (1st semester of your Junior year, J2 is second semester, S1 1st senior semester, S2 last semester). Your 4 semesters are labeled "J1, J2, S1, S2." Your J1 (first) semester will most likely be like this: Mon 8-1 (one class, plus you'll have a lab in this time period every week) Tues 8-12 (one class, but several times throughout the semester you'll have to stay until 4 for lab. I think it was 4 times) Wed 8-4 (2 classes) Clinical: you'll also have ONE 8 hour clinical day PER week that is assigned to you. You have to go with your clinical group to the hospital that you're assigned, and you'll shadow a nurse for the day in providing care to patients. Right now I'm a J2, so I started in January's Spring semester. This summer schedule is a bit busier as it's only 13 weeks, rather than the full 16. As J2s, our schedule is: 9-12, 1-3:30 Mondays 8-12, 1-4 Tuesdays Plus we have ONE 8 hour Psychiatric Clinical per week at 1 of 2 locations in Houston on EITHER Wednesday OR Friday. Plus we have ONE 12 hour Adult Care Clinical per week that we can schedule with our precepted nurse at our hospital whenever we can fit it in. As J1s, you'll have a little bit of input as to where you'd like to do your Care clinical, but not everybody gets their preference due to the fact that schools are so competitive in fighting over clinical slots. So there's very little flexibility, but you DO input your preference. I have gotten my preference both semesters so far, but there are students who have not.

I'm a J2 and the Summer semester is pretty hectic. As a J1, you'll have classes Mon and Tues mornings 8-12ish. Wednesday you'll be in class from 8-4. You'll also have one 8 hour clinical day per week, starting around the 3rd or 4th week of school. The rest of the week, you'll pretty much spend your time studying or doing care plans from your clinical patient.

In the traditional program, you'll start your Adult Care 1 clinical around the 3rd week of class and do about 8 hours per week. It does significantly increase to 22 hours per week over 2 days, or maybe a bit less in your second semester.

I'm not sure if they still provide the pacesetter for BSN. Has anybody looked in to this, other than on the website?

At UTH, the Traditional program is 16 months long. It goes through the summer semester with 4 consecutive semesters. For example: Your class will start January 2013 and graduate May 2014. Spring, Summer, Fall and Spring semesters with no breaks. TWU takes summers off, so it ends up taking almost 2 years for the 4 semesters, but UT is great because it gets you your degree and working faster. Just because it's "traditional" and not "accelerated," don't think you won't still be trying to drink from the firehose. Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Once you guys pay your app fee and the school gets your transcripts, they should be sending you a transcript evaluation telling you exactly which courses you've satisfied. Since they're using a new online system (myUTH) there may be changes that I'm not aware of, but you should still get transcript evals. AP won't get you anything credit-wise (maybe looks good at the admission decision??). The transcript eval will tell you precisely what you HAVE completed, what gpa they're evaluating you at for the courses, and which pre-reqs you still NEED to complete. People often question whether or not their Pharm or Patho will transfer. The answer is usually no. If your Pharm or Patho is from a 2 year or junior college, it's evaluated by UT as a sophomore level course. In order to be evaluated for transfer credit as any of your nursing curriculum, your classes need to be junior level or above (patho or pharm from 4 year universities I have seen transfer in the past). It's better to go ahead and take Pharm and Patho anyways, because you're responsible for that material on the end of course HESIs (there's an end of course HESI in most classes here that you are required to pass) and it also weighs heavily on the NCLEX. If you think you might need it... just take it. There's also an end of course HESI that's a comprehensive exit exam on all 4 semesters (to include Patho and Pharm) which you need to be prepared for. Last semester, a few people were unable to pass the exit HESI after the 4 semesters and consequently did not get a diploma from UTHSC and cannot sit for the NCLEX or receive a license to practice. GOOD LUCK. Getting in is the EASY part! I know this is a much anticipated time in your lives and it's just beginning to become real. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help.
