  1. Hello fellow nurses, Help me with your opinions and experience... Early this year I was terminated. I worked at this huge hospital for 11 years. Allegations of patient safety issues, a complaint made by a coworker. 11 years and never, ever having a problem. Note I was fired March of 2011, my union did not have my grievience heard until 2 weeks ago, 7 months after being fired and it was filed in March the day I was fired. I don't know what to do, where to go ect. I'm going to fight this, any opinions? :yeah::yeah::yeah:
  2. :yeah::yeah: At first I was angry about the hoops I have to go thru to keep my licence and as time went by I gave in. BUT you're right. If I wasn't and alcoholic I should have the right to drink to my content while on my own time, as long as I follow the laws. Why in the heck do I have to test for drugs if I was caught drinking alcohol? Why does my jop have to be approved by the BRN along with someone supervising me while I work. I have one DUI on my own time ect. Again how can I help, let me know. Now I'm ******, and not in the Canadian way :smokin:
  3. Help, I'm on probation in California for a DUI. Part of my probation is to obtain a PE. The form the BRN gave to me indicates that the provider performing the PE is to possess at least 3 years of work experience that is directly related to the violation. My primary care MD does not have any experience with a RN that has a DUI. Can any other RNs in California that are on probation help me or tell me what they did? Thanks ever sooooo much!
  4. thanks dinguino. Today is Sat and FirstLab is closed. Do you think it wise to just take a drug test slip to the testing office and give my sample? I do have a concern tho, that is the missed test was Monday the 26th of Sept. I didn't know of this until I checked in this am and took a look at the "forms/reports" tab. I truelly don't remember if I checked in or not, but I take responsibility for this STUPID mistake, fudge, fudge, fudge!!!!!! I suppose if I have to tag another year onto my probation, then so be it. Let me tell you this though, the other RN's I go to at my peer group have not had another year added on to their punisment. I'm new to this so I havn't asked them what did happen to them. What I have been warned about is not to forget. On the other subject. My probation monitor told me that there is already a proposal in leglislation to change the BRNs guidelines, apparently it was heard very recently....do you know where to look for any specifics? Gracious
  5. Thanks for the info about B Boxer, I will take you up on shooting her an e-mail. but..... HELP. I'm new at this calling in with First Lab every day and I really want to follow the BRNs rules while I'm on probation. I forgot to call in, I actually check in on my computer, on a day I was to test. FUDGE!!! I've been on probation for one month now, short of a few days. This will be the second x I've missed check in. The first x was the second week and now this x was just a few days ago. I'm going to set safe guards to avoid missing. But what is going to happen to me????:mad: thanks, God Bless and my husband says, "getting drug tested for a DUI is like getting your hair cut when you need your nails done"
  6.:confused:Hey HELP. I'm new at this calling in with First Lab every day. I really want to follow the BRNs rules while I'm on probation. 7. Exactly. I do have one DUI. Not proud of it at all It's not a criminal offence. So I'm wanting to know what is being proposed to change what is shown when the public looks at my RN status.
  8. Hello Fellow nurses!!! Does anyone know about the possibility of the California legislation changing the length of x our nursing licence will show our DUI after completing probation? My probation manager told me yesterday that there is a proposal in the legislation now that is requesting our BRN record be cleared after completing probation. Or does anyone know where I can look for what is specifically bring presented to the ?? senate, govenor? presented to where ever it's presented to???? Muchas
  9. Hello everyone, thanks for your input. Yah the whole thing was very strange and seemed underhanded. With all of our budget cuts it seems like this would not be necessary. However they did do it. Our follow up session seemed like it was to develop a positive employee attitude. WOOO WHO. :uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:
  10. :cool:Hello Fellow Nurses. I want to put this out there and see if anyone has an opinion or comment. I've been working at a SNF for > 10 yrs. Management changed about 2 years ago. 1 month ago our DON came in and had a few of us take a MMPI like test. No one refused r/t peer pressure and fear of consequences. Now we have to go down and see a psych expert. This is all very strange, my company is spending money on this, and I would think it's very expensive, when our Christmas party ect have been done away with. What the heck?????
  11. Hello, Not "preachy" at all!!! I like your direct information!
  12. WADERN, How did your employment with Devita turn out? I too am a CA RN on probation. For me I feel the probation was a gift from God, and I thank him daily for allowing me to face my addiction :balloons: Does Devita train?? I've been a Peds Clinic Nurse and Telephone Advice for almost 10 years now. One may find it strange but dialysis sounds like an awsome change :). God Bless You, Donna
  13. Is it legal for a Manager to inform a co-employee of my DUI and not me?
  14. Is it lawful for my supervisor to inform a co-employee of my DUI and not me?
  15. Thank YOU sooooo much for your reply!
  16. I'm a recovering alcoholic. In my recovery I feel I may have found my calling. I want really want to help others come out of the despiration that an addict has their feet stuck in. What does a RN do in a residential facility? Where would a RN with ED, Med Surg, Hospice and Phone Triage experience start?? :redbeathe
