Job offer. Pay estimate?
Thank you, ladies! I dont anticipate needed health insurance, but youre right about retirement. I file my taxes as single/0 so my taxes tend to be higher.

Job offer. Pay estimate?
Would anyone be willing to help me gauge a net pay estimate for a job offer I just rec'd? 36 h per week 36h of weekend/mo required 36 h of nights/mo required Base 23.25 Nights 29.50 Weekend 28.75 Tell me if my logic is correct here. One month would be 6 days, 3 weekend days, and 3 nights? Correct? if I roughly round and take a few dollars per hour off each rate, I should net ~3000/month. Right? Or am I missing something? I'm relocating to VA so I'm trying to establish a budget. Thank you!!!

Am I being taken advantage of?
Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to take my first travel assignment in the new year, and I have been working with American Travelers, mostly. My recruiter called yesterday to ask if I wanted to be submitted to 2 jobs in CT, one in Greenwich and one in Norwalk. The take home pay, after housing, would be $19.80 (Greenwich) and $30 (Norwalk). I was shocked at how low this is. Granted, I don't have any experience traveling yet and I don't know anyone that travels personally, so I thought I would come to the source. Does this sound right? If not, to I request more, or move to a different company? Thanks so much! Gaby

Finding a job in a specific location (Jackson, WY)
hey there! I'm starting to reach out to recruiters and hopefully get set up with my first travel assignment. I'm really hoping to get placed in Jackson, WY (or Driggs, ID, because I believe it's the only other hospital within driving distance). Since there seems to only be 2 hospitals as options out there, I know it may be a challenge to find a contract. Since I'm not all that familiar yet with travel nursing, my question is, are all agencies basically picking from the same pool of jobs and the only difference is the compensation package/benefits they offer? Or is it worth working with multiple agencies to hopefully find one that can place me where I want to be? Thanks! :)

To NP or not to NP? Continuing Ed
Hello all! My whole student career it was my plan to go back to school eventually and become an NP. I am a brand new nurse, but wanted to go to school before I had kids, was married, etc. Now, after talking to some NP's and working closely with some I'm not so sure it is worth it. I would put myself farther into debt via student loans and the pay difference isn't that great. In addition, the responsibility is 150% more. I really love school and learning and the whole reason I want to continue school is to further my education. I don't care about letters after my name, carrying a prescription pad, or writing orders. I want to know everything I possibly can, to put it simply. My real questions are: is being an NP really worth it? and if not, what are some other alternatives to furthering your education? Just attending conferences, doing CEU's and such? THanks so much :) Gaby
