cgfns edas report - australia
Last time I used cgfns was back in 2001 when I completed the CP program but now I may need to have an edas report completed. For those that have done this process recently (and extra points if your from Australia), is cgfns the ones to request the original documents from your school or do you have to? I am no longer living australia but now in the USA since 2001. Same goes for verifying my australian nursing license. Do they request that information from APHRA or do I? thanks!

License via Endorsement (Internationally trained)
Hi there, Yes after 6 weeks I finally obtained my permanent single state Texas license and had no issues regarding my education or having australia BON verify my license from over 20 years ago. Again however this was via endorsement as I've been licensed in 3 other states prior to Texas. Hope this helps.

CES report about to expire
Did this get resolved? What was your outcome?

License via Endorsement (Internationally trained)
Hi everyone! I have had my RN license in George (by exam), California and South Carolina and now I'm applying for a license via endorsement for Texas. I have worked as a RN in various states since 2002. BSN from Australia. I have taken both the CGFNS exam and the NCLEX. I've been asked by the texas BON to upload my degree/transcripts which I have done and waiting on a review. Has anyone else been asked to do this before and what was your outcome? They are also asking for a verification of my nursing license from Australia which is well over 20 years ago. I've never been asked for my degree or australian nursing license so I'm just a anxious over it. Thanks for any input.

I ended up working for Kaiser. How did the interview go at the eye clinic. What did you think of the place?

Avg. pay for RN in an outpatient eye surgery clinic??
@ DukeGal09 - I interviewed at the antioch eye practice some time ago and to be honest I wasn't really all that impressed. No benefits at that time, maybe retirement plan after 1 year of working there, low pay, and didn't look all that nice. Only thing good about it was the hours, m-f etc but the amount of hours were not guaranteed so couldn't tell me if it were to be 2 days a week or 5 days a week (even though the craigslist ad said to be available 5 days a week). Good luck to you

Will they even call me back?
The Bay area and California job market is saturated with nurses right now... ADN, BSN and even those nurses with experience that live here have a difficult time landing a job. I recently spoke to a recruiter about it all and she said they generally hire locals over someone who would have to relocate unless it was for an upper management position (ie qualified candidates that are hard to come by). If you lived here and had a CA license and your experience (at least 1 year in the last 3 years) in your specialty is recent (and you have your BSN) you might have better luck. Having said that.. there is always the option for you to be a travel nurse if you want to work in California. I know some travel nurses who after their contract became regular staff nurses at the hospital they worked at. But you would have to see if they have any travel jobs in your specialty. Good luck to you!

Nursing Strike
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=%2Fc%2Fa%2F2011%2F09%2F27%2FMN4C1L9Q2L.DTL Here is the article related to the patients death. I honestly don't know how you make that mistake, by infusing the patients g-tube feed into her IV instead. Having said that I feel for that nurse but also the patient and her family. Yes we are all human and can be prone to make mistakes but I would have to question how experienced this nurse was to begin with. Always always always remember your 5 rights!!!

CE continuing education
@ceebum I'm not sure what that booklet is about but as i is your 2nd time renewing you will need to have proof that you completed 30 CEU's (I say proof as in you will need to have the certificates printed out and put them in a file somewhere if ever you are audited by the BON. I provided you with a link to where I go to get mine and also if you are working in-services can have ceu's attached to them and you can also use the ceu's for initial certification for bls, acls etc.. but you cant use them if you are renewing a bls/acls license. Hope that helps
