  1. I work 3-11 shift 5 days a week. Most times I actually get off after 12 or 1am. Then my days off are not together, so you never really feel rested. Personally I would prefer the 3 -12hr shifts. I've been doing this now for 3 months and I feel burned out. I thought the most I would work is 4 days a week, but because of need for staff, I get the hours. I'm looking for options
  2. I can certainly relate. I passed boards in Feb got my first RN job at nursing home. (Wanted to start slow)Everything is done manually, from mars to charting. I have never seen so much paperwork to pass a pill. Long story short, I am being tagged as the new black wolf so to speak. The current skilled assessment are a pre printed check off. Then you narrative chart on anything that is not WNL. Well that stirred up a huge controversy. When I began charting on skin assessments, nearly every patient had something to write about, such as a bruise, ecchymosis, stasis, etc..needless to say prior to my employment the prior shift RN who has been there for years charts skin as WNL. Please, no one has skin without problems. I charted what I saw. I started the month State was due out and bingo, they facility got into trouble because obviously charting didn't match, no back up documentation. Now everyone in power is scrambling through charts, doing inservices, but the big issue was on skin. I felt I must has caused the problem. Though never directly told. I feel completely awful. I know I am new, but I was trained to be thorough. They hate my words, people got nailed, and I haven't even got through my probationary period. I can't even tell you how many inservices all of us nurses have had. I not sure if I should just quit because I feel I caused such a problem for all the powers to be though not at all my intention. I really like my coworkers, patients are great, mgmt is horrible. Can someone direct me to a better way to chart skin? Has anyone else had these new job issues. I just want to cry and I only just begun in this field. Any advice from the newbies and experienced would be greatly appreciated.
