  1. It has been done before! You do have classes during your first summer - mental health for 6 weeks. For us we didn't have a choice initially which session we took, but they did make allowances for special circumstances. You'll have to figure out what works best for you but when it gets closer I would just speak with the instructors to see what they say. :-)
  2. Well personally pedi/OB has always been my passion, more OB than pedi, but I've always wanted to do trauma as well (there's time to do both in life, right?! LOL) So I really enjoyed the CareFlite thing today. That was my dream job when I first started nursing school forever ago but I doubt with my shunt I'll ever be able to do it. :-(
  3. Um, someone ACED the first exam?! I thought I did before I hit "submit" LOL but was happy with my 88 on that one considering I studied for all of an hour. This time I spent about 15min going over the pertinent info and made it out with an 86. It's not my usual A average but hell, from all the horror stories we've heard I'm rather content with it! LOL And then we had to hear the Pedi/OB class tell us how bad it was :-( That's my speciality so I hope it's not awful!
  4. Just glad it's over, personally! LOL Now to focus on the glorious week off!! :bowingpur
  5. Ready for that test for sure!! And don't forget the mod that is due over spring break! I think I'm going to do it early so I don't forget and can actually enjoy the break. :-)
  6. Just a note for y'all future nurses :-) I got in with 3-A's and 1-C. My GPA for sciences was a 3.5 and I made a 95.5% on the HESI and completed all my basics. A "B" won't kill your chances entirely! :-) But TXHusker is dead on - we're all very competitive go-getters and that's how we got to where we are. It's a beast getting in but once you do we're all on the same team, the competition turns in to an even playing field and you're all there to accomplish the same goal. I LOVE my clinical group and my instructors and it is HARD AS HELL! But so very, very rewarding. You'll love it!! :-DSo glad IM/SQ is done! And that UC is being pushed back. LOL Spring Break anyone?? :-)
  7. I bought the Fundamentals for Success workbook as well. Not much of a notecard person though. LOVING the fact that I can upload the PP's to the iPad on Kindle!!
  8. Something I've heard twice over the last two days that really resonated with me was, "Don't kill yourself trying to read ALL of the chapters and take notes while you're reading. You'll never be able to keep up that way." Cover the grey boxes and what's on the powerpoint. The instructor will let you know what's important. Personally I LOVE the instructor I have (she's the same for clinical and theory). Will know about skills on Friday. LOL
  9. I LOVE our theory/clinical instructor!! Today was great, just easing in (except for DA and hygiene of course). Actually enjoying the DA homework!! LOL Tomorrow is theory so I'm anxious to get that rolling. I showed up at 6:15am and got a prime parking spot, but was definitely not the first one there which made me feel a little better. :-)
  10. Last night I had a nightmare that I was late for the first day of class. Then when I woke up and saw the sun I had to quickly make sure it wasn't Tuesday! LOL I'm so excited I'll probably have a very difficult time sleeping tonight. :-)
  11. So today I went to HPB over by Ridgmar Mall and was able to purchase our pharmacology book brand new with the disc for $7.98!! Granted it's 5th not 6th edition, but the 6th ed is $91 at the bookstore so I'm pretty happy with that purchase. LOL I also got Mosbys drug reference for $5 and a little DA handbook for $5 as well. I was quite impressed!
  12. And your license. I can't honestly remember if there was anything else...
  13. Well they DO look like elf / dance shoes and I thought it was funny. :-) No offense taken txhusker!! LOL
  14. So these are the shoes I got for clinicals (after I cleared it at CPR training): Nike Women's Shox Classic II Running Shoe | FinishLine.com | White/Silver And these lovely gems I purchased for when we have to go do our patient prep. :-) I wasn't sure if we'd be wearing our uniform or business casual attire with our labcoats (which is what I thought I heard?), but all of my dressy flats show my tattoos so I needed something that covered the entire foot.
