Thank you for this information. I'm a bit curious thou how most of these items add up to $1,200.00. I was hoping that you added the prices from last year or estimated them to the best of your ability. I did a calculation and most of them seem as if its only $500.00 at most. What about the ipod touch n all of that other groovy stuff?

I kept on hearing from fellow classmates that superiors and fellow nurses bully their young. Not in terms of physical bullying, but psychological. I don't understand this at all. Could someone please emphasize or provide any examples? Also, what offers them the motive to bully? Were they insecure during your youth? I also heard that the bullying in Nursing is far more abundant than any other profession. My professors have joked that I will most likely not be bullied because I am 6'5 265 lbs and they will be intimidated. But, I don't understand this. Could someone please provide some advice on how to avoid this bullying treatment from other nurses? My entire class was talking about it, yet I had no idea about bullying within the Nursing circle until two days ago. Random question, do Physicians get bullied around? or is that nearly impossible since their on the top of the food chain?

Speaking of the international experience, are they offered only in the summer and what countries would be available? When do we have to complete this international experience? Costs same as summer tuition?

Hello Coriander, With the new semester approaching, I have come to notice that there will be numerous items, supplies, and uniforms to purchase during orientation. An item such as a iPOD touch has been mentioned as a necessity for the school. If you may, please list some items or supplies that are required for nursing school. Assuming we don't require a SD exclusive item, I would like to purchase them all by myself. Also, to the best of your ability, please distinguish the difference of whether or not its required or slightly/highly recommended. Attempt to list everything for preparation for first semester. For instance, is a laptop required or recommended? There are probably some things we HAVE to purchase exclusively at the school such as uniforms and all. So, please distinguish them. For clarification, is the orientation on the 22nd for pre-licensed students or students with RN licenses? Also, is the courtyard an actual classroom or is it a open wide space on campus?

I had a full scale physical conducted on November 1st 2010, complete with MMR, Varicella, Rubella, Mumps, Hepatitis B series, Varicella, and booster immunizations. For the Nursing program, I spoke to a nurse in student health services and in order for them to clear me, they want me to have a MMR and Varicella blood titer conducted to check my blood levels to verify my immunity. With this being said, they are very expensive and I'm unable to afford it. Why do I have to undergo a titer? Are there any alternative methods? Could I just get another immunization for the MMR and varicella? How much do Titers go for around your region?

Just like how Anlido and Leeshay stated, how are we selected for which labs we are in during orientation? Is it a draw of the hat? Do they ask, "who wants 7 o clock clinicals" then everyone raises their hand? Pre-selected? Highest GPA? I'm asking because just like leeshay (I want to take an additional course which is only possible if I select my own lab courses) and I'm commuting just like (Anlido) so my time selection for classes is critical?

I have received the e-mail from ---- about our immunizations and our physicals. I understand that we must immediately submit our immunizations, but I just need to finish up one left. Is there a mandatory deadline for this? Reason I am asking here is because the SON is closed right now and on weekends. Should I submit my immunization records now if I have not completed the Hepatitis A series or should I just wait? Also, are we allowed to conduct our background check right now? How about the drug test as well, could we just finish that now? I don't want to wait until August to have my compliance cleared, I want to keep the ball rolling now! There is something I don't quite understand.. "After you have successfully Faxed your immunization paperwork, you can call and make an appointment to be seen (to have your physical or to complete/update your immunizations, etc.) NO SOONER THAN THREE (3) WEEKS AFTER THE DATE THE PAPERWORK IS FAXED. For instance, if you faxed your paperwork on July 11, you can make an appointment for August 1 or later, if you faxed your paperwork on July 15, you can make your appointment for August 5 or later. **IMPORTANT** If you make an appointment to be seen within the three week processing time, it will be cancelled and you will no longer be given priority. You will then fall in line behind as many as 5000 SDSU students! So please follow the above guidelines carefully!" Priority for what...? Registration? So if I make an appointment within the three weeks, how does it affect me? Are we supposed to make an appointment if my physical is already complete? What if I am missing an immunization? Could I just finish that with my personal physician or is that what the appointment is for?
