PCT/CNA Patient Load in Hospital Setting Question
The normal is 11-12 patients and sometimes 16 depending on census. We have to do vitals every 4 hours, and even transport not including other normal stuff . So be happy, 9 patients would be lovely for me.

Baths!
At my facility, we have specific guidelines so that there are no misunderstandings. The day shift does all the assist baths and linen changes along with feedings becasue that is when breakfast, lunch and dinner are being served. The night shifts does all the total (bed bound) baths and linen changes along with taking out the trash and stocking all the rooms. Nobody fuses if the trash is not completely empty as long as it is not full. Every shift passes ice at a certain time during the end of their shift and eveything is charted. Also, our rule is baths every other day so sometimes day shift does the bed bound baths too depending on when the patient was admitted and the last time they took a bath. Your facility need to start implementing specific guidelines so that the lazy techs don't take advantage of you because it seems like that is what they are doing and the charge nurse will take their side especially if they have seniority over you.

Why are some aides so disrespectful?
@onthemark- The way you explained the situation, I don't believe it happened that way. Sounds like you are not telling the whole truth. @brandonlpn- Even when I was in the military, I did not allow my hierarchy to disrespect me in any way shape or form. @hiddencatrn- Command? Yeah right. I'd like to see you command me and see how it blows up in your face. Let me tell you something people. Nurses and Techs or CNA's are suppose to work as a team for the good of the patients. Don't think that becasue you are a nurse, you can talk to Techs/CNA's in any way you choose and no you are no better. Everybody need to respect each other and be professional. Remember, those Techs/CNA"s are your eyes and your ears, they may be able to detect certain things that you do not becasue they have direct patient care and spend much more time with the patients than you do. Where I work we respect each other, and if there is a problem we talk about it once and keep on moving. I am a tech now and will be graduating as an RN in the next couple of months. You all need to start being professional and get out of your stink.
