  1. I know that you CAN get student loans while on this list. The only thing that bars you from loans is a conviction in drug dealing. (whatever the legal terms are.) I am not sure about clinicals, however. If your school will allow you to do clinicals while in a program/license probation, I would ask them specifically.

Mona, You are so very right! They are not your friends, they are there to keep people safe. I was, however, impressed that they contracted a second party to take care of their nurses in recovery. Not all states do this, some are basically integrated into the board. And are extremely harsh. I was sincerely shocked though, that the BON actually recognizes the extreme and constant effort that we have to put into recovery. Please do not forget that they utilize ETG testing (you can google lists of things to stay away from) They do not tolerate metabolites of alcohol from any source, whether it be cough syrup, bubble gum, hand sanitizer, or any of the other 100 things to stay away from. They had a program for those that couldn't afford testing, and paid for a couple of the $75.00 dollar tests. Good luck with your program!

Yes, I have been through ISNAP, before they had a program segregated from the INBON. ISNAP is much MUCH better!! Robin will take your info, and let you know what you have to do. Unfortunately I have to work through a second BON cause I live in another state. I would like you to know that you can reach them almost anytime, and they won't make you wait 2 weeks for a callback. When they went with me (yes WITH me) before the BON at the meeting to be reinstated, Chuck actually spoke for me, and the BON was sincere and "true" nurses, and actually clapped for me and gave me such a feeling of accomplishement, even tho it was me that screwed up in the first place. They are not employed by the BON, so it is a REAL program. They are not bad, and they are FAR better than the other programs you will find out there, be thankful you live in IN. You went for help, you can do the program. Good luck! They are tough, but not ridiculous like some of the others. they are truly there to help you, if you are willing!
