I'm too in Nights/weekends. I bought the box as well and of course used the coupon. I was planning to wait until the first day of class to buy supplemental/additional books, maybe we can be sure of what we need. I'm planning to read from the calculation book, but I don't remember the chapters # they said to read at orientation.

If they will let us pick the Hospital, I will go with TGH. I work in one of their clinics already, so it will be easier for me. They have electronic medical records that I already know how to use. Though it's true that the parking is off site.

:heartbeat Hello girls!!! I miss chatting too. I have been so busy at work with a new program that they started on Oct 1st. It's driving me crazy, but the OT is good. I haven"t done any shopping, but I do have a white top and think wine bottoms too. For now I think is good enough. Also have a stethoscope. I think I will look into the Wings program too. Thanks for the info everyone. Did you ended up going shopping with simmola? Can't wait 'til next week to meet you all.

Simmola: have you check your web advisor? If you have the nursing program loaded I don't think there is nothing to worry about. It might take a while for them to cash those checks. I went yesterday to Uniform City to see if they had any specials, but NO LUCK.... Nothing on sale. Have you guys decided on shoes yet? I know they have to be white, but I'm wondering if we can wear nursing shoes or it has to be tennis shoes.

Simmola: When I got the book I looked just for the dosage calculation book an that one was the least expensive so I got it. I am planning to study after the fall because I'm taking American Literature now and I work full time with two kids and a husband, so three kids...lol. So at orientation we can exchange phone #'s and plan study groups like you said. About the uniforms I ussually buy mines online at UAuniforms.com, their brand is pretty cheap and they have last me for over 5 years (they don't look fade) not even the black ones. I planning to go to Uniform City as well, remember if you buy online, sometimes the size doesn't fit right. My tops are from S, M and L depending on the style. UA uniforms runs big. I always try to buy uniforms on sale. I have one pair of Khoi that I got as a present, they are very comfortable buy very expensive too. If I were you I will go to Uniform City and try on different styles and see what you like before buying online. Remember we are going to be from 8-10 hours running aroung in clinicals. Hope we get nice nurses to follow.......

Ok ladies this is what I got: Math and Dosage Calculations for Medical Careers. Second Edition. By Kathryn Booth and James E Whaley. Comes with CD. Also, Fundamentals of Nursing 6th Edition- Potter & Perry. I got both at Amazon.com for less than $ 15.00. But, orientation it's just aorund the corner!!!!! I heard they will have the package for sale there. Which it supposed to have these books in it. For those who don't mind waiting. I couldn't!

Ok. I just saw (while at my lunch hour) nursing students from HCC wearing white bottoms and wine tops..????? I'm confused. We are better off waiting until orientation day. Can't wait to meet everyone. I also noticed my profile on web advisor has the nursing program loaded.

KikB: I thought that the uniforms were white bottoms and port wine tops. Did they change? I have seen them at HCC with these combination. I love they way you are on top of everything, I'm glad am not the only one. Does anyone knows is the packaged texbooks are for the entire program? I was looking at them online, from HCC bookstore, and the price is around $ 1,100.00. I hope those are for the entire program! What about scholarships? Has anyone check in to that?

Congrats to all of us....Hopefully those who didn't get the schedule they wanted can change the day of orientation. Has anyone bought any uniforms for the clinicals? or started to read as the previous thread did? Can't wait to orientation and we all can meet.

KikB: Mine letter doesn't state the days, but clinicals are on Saturdays. But if you check classes on hawknet, it will say the days and hours they have available. FutureNP1: Welcome to the site. I haven't check yet...I'm an alternate as well.I got an email a couple days ago from MF saying that those letters will be send out within next week. Just hopping to hear good news soon. Good Luck!!!

RN in training 2011: Do you mind giving your gpa. I also got an alternate with 3.38. I guess we'll know in a couple of weeks since today is the deadline for returning the letter. Fingers crossed.:)
