  1. Yes...that's why I'm going to check out the financial aid situation for the SUNY community colleges and for you, maybe you want to check out the LPN programs that don't require any money at all...some in NYC are free and if I lived in LI I'd consider it. I'm sure you know this, but if you go to a community college you could sit for the LPN boards halfway into the RN program. Would be cheaper that way. :) --Liz
  2. Thanks for the speedy reply. Gee Whiz, maybe I'm a bit naive, but I thought that there were grants all over the internet to help out aspiring nurses. (Or are they just scams?):uhoh21: I would imagine, that due to this universal 'shortage' that there would be tons of money out there for us! ?????--Liz
  3. Hey there: There are price differences with the various BOCES everywhere. I've heard of them as low as $5500 and high as $10,000. In New York City, the Board of Education offers it for free. (If you're willing to travel into Manhattan and Brooklyn every day.) This can be found if you go to the net and you put LPN programs New York State into the search engine.:) --Liz
  4. Hi All, I'm Liz and I'm in LPN school and I just introduced myself in the brandy-new corner. I have a BA degree in Communication, and I'm in LPN school now because I don't have the time to go and get an associate's degree in nursing at this juncture. Don't know if this is the right place, but how can I get grants for nursing? They wouldn't give me a Pell grant because I have a college degree, so I'm paying for LPN with a stafford loan. BOCES LPN school is $7000. There's gotta be someone out there who can subsidize this for me? Ideas anyone? thanks in advance for your help! --Liz
