  2. Regular rate $15.59/hour on call rate:$2.00 charge rate:$1.00 call back rate:15.59 holiday rate:15.59 $300 travel reimbursemnt $35/day M&I lodging per diem: $62.47/day paid weekly guaranteed hours asignment is in Denver Colorado and my "tax home" is Missouri. I rent an apartment in St. Louis area. I dont know know about this "tax free" advantage. I wonder if I'm being offered a comparable compensation package. Low hourly rate. She said overtime was time and a half. But that's off the $15.59/hour. Opinions?
  3. Thank you for your response. I may try to so the local pRN job with temp agency so that way I can stay at main job. I need to have 2 years experience before I can go prn at my Main job. I'm pretty sure I'll be looking into prn options once I am qualified. Thanks!
  4. I have a little over 1.5 years experience in nursing. I have worked in small hospitals, so I was able to work in various areas in OB (antepartum, L&D, postpartum, newborn, GYN/plastic surgery). I live in St. Louis Missouri area currently and have lived in areas where I don't know anyone at first. I have wanted to do travel nursing once I got more experience. I work a full time night position at a small hospital currently. I have been talking with recruiter about local PRN assignments and I have just been told about 13-26 week assignments in Boston at Brigham and women's. It would be float pool. I need to inquire more on Monday, as I am not sure how the hourly wage, housing options/stipends, and tax benefits work. Questions: I have only been at my job 6 months amd like it there. Work well with my co-workers and they are supportive. I like the self-scheduling and am able to get extra hours at times. Another co-worker (was over a year for her) took an assignment as a travel nurse & folks were supportive. A few nurses had left for a time and came back. They had also been there longer before they left for awhile and came back. If I stay on good terms, have you ever heard of nurses coming back to their main full time job? I know it depends on lots of things, just wondering how common it is. I'm wondering if I should be patient and just work PRN jobs with my main job. I would prefer to go out west like Arizona or colorado for an assignment. My recruiter said she would look into options for me. I'm single with no kids or pets. Lease at apartment is to November though. Thanks!
  5. I hold a RN AL license. I have an unofficial job offer at a hospital in Illinois that is contingent upon getting my IL RN state license. Interview was aug22. AL does not participate in NURSEYS, and they said it takes 10-14 days to send verification of license(request made aug23). I thought I was waiting to get it sent to me(applicant) to put in packet as a whole. I was waiting on the director of nursing at my school to verify education as well/ I went in person finally since it was taking awhile. By this time, I was then that I made the call to AL & realized their process. So I sent the packet ASAP priority mail. IL said they received it sep 10 & that they are working on applications from aug8. Said it takes 6-8 weeks. It had already been 3 weeks, since I didn't realize the process. HR at IL had me tentatively scheduled for Oct.6th to start. I'm worried I will not get my license endorsed in IL in time & that they will need to offer it to a candidate that is able to start sooner. Do you think they will revoke the job offer if my endorsement takes too long? I'm eager & ready to begin work, but everything lingers on the paper trail. I've been looking for other jobs(just in case), but this is the one I want. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.
  6. I live in Decatur, AL. I graduated yesterday with my ADN. I am aware of the tough job market. I have just scratched the surface in terms of applying to jobs. I know the key is to be flexible. I had an OB new nurse graduate position interview a few days ago. I drove 5 hours to go to the interview. I never thought I'd want to work in OB, but I do recall positive experiences during my OB rotation. Does anyone know much about Dothan,AL and Flowers hospital? I really liked the hospital and the people there. Any tips would be appreciated. I would prefer to stay in the area, however there are so many nursing schools around this area so it makes it even tougher. Finances are not so tight that I have to rush to get a job. The idea of relocating can be exciting but also a lot involved. I just know its not advised to turn down job offers. The interview in my opinion went well. They are checking references.
  7. Hi! I'm new to this website. I applied to both Wallace State and Calhoun and got in:) I live close to Calhoun and Wallace would be an hour drive up and back 4 days a week. I went to their orientation already. They all seem real nice.Calhoun's letter just came Friday, and I believe the commute alone would be worth going Calhoun. I believe the NPLEX pass rates are similar. I took all my basics at Calhoun. 1-Anyone have an opinion on attending Calhoun vs Wallace State (Hanceville)? 2-Would graduating at one school over the other better ensure a job after graduation? I need to mail back my response within the next few days. Also, I'm out of state for the summer and am moving back in August. I already attended Wallace orientation, lol. I called and the lady in nursing department said it wasn't mandatory but I would miss a lot of information. She said registration in person was required though so I'm already looking at at least one more flight to Alabama before my move in August. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!
