  1. I can't find anything out myself either...if you do, post it here.
  2. I want to go to nursing school in Brazil too, thats where Im from and I think I ll never know for sure if the educational credits will be transfer back here. for example I called the CGFNS International and they dont tell you if your foreign school will be recognize here in the states or not. they say they have to see the transcripts.
  3. I emailed the CGFNS and they said ''GFNS International is not affiliated with healthcare recruiters, schools or institutions'' but I guess its just a auto message. I think is complicated for them to know because I have never seen people here in this forum saying ''CGFNS denied my foreign education'' I only see people from UK from example saying that their bachelor degree was recognized as diploma here etc.. anyway, Im gonna call them and see what they say. I dont wanna go school for 4 years and take the risk of my degree is being useless here.
  4. I agree with you, I wasn't being sarcastic or anything. school here its way more expensive and it takes longer to graduate, thats why I wanna go back to brasil too and do exactly what you did. I thought any school would make the list of equivalence. so thats a problem for me. at least in my state D is passing grade even on the best public/federal schools. But of course I would do my best to get better grades. I was planning to go to private school( universidade do norte do parana) in my state (parana) because i dont wanna waste more time doing preparing for a vestibular for a public or fereral school specially because I have been in the us already 6 years. I just wanna enroll right away. thanks again for the info!
  5. so it took you 1 year a half to get your license and you spent around 5k to do all the process? thats pretty expensive, but of course it was worth it. so basically if I got D in brasil in a class for example and as long as a graduated there it will be valid here? another question for you, are you applying for a master degree here? if so, how is the transition? easy? thanks for your posts btw!
  6. hey williams75 Im glad to finally see someone who graduated in brasil doing well here. as I posted before I want to go to school in brasil and since you say that the bachelor degree is recognized here in the u.s it made me wanna go even more since I want to go to grad school someday. so I have some questions for you. for example, many colleges in brasil a D is a passing grade and here only a C is. So can you still transfer classes if you got a D in brasil for example? so, hows was getting a job here? easy? I hear lot that people here dont like foreign grades and make it difficult to them to get a job. but I think its a myth.
  7. Im def gonna consider this Excelsior school, unless is too expensive. thanks again :)
  8. Around here, all the community colleges and states colleges (which the tuition are cheaper) are all very competitive. The private schools that there are not wait list are just too expensive around here. so how is this Excelsior school? is it a online school? is it really legit? anyway, thank you for all this information, it really helped me a lot!
  9. hey so your friend did her master degree here but didnt pass the toefl or the NCLEX exam? thats kinda weird haha, because I thought going to grad school would be harder. so If I do go to brasil Im going on October because thats when the "vestibular'' is in the school I wanna attend. Sometimes I think about going to a LPN program and do the RN program after because I see at schools LPN to RN programs so I believe is easier to get in if you are a LPN.
  10. hey aniani Its sad to hear about your friend and even though Ive graduated high school here in the us, have taken college classes I still worry about the toefl exam. Anyway. Do you know if your friend's degree was recognized here as a bsn? since I believe she has a bachelor degree from Brasil. Im Still unsure if I should go to brasil or not. Being on the college wait list here its frustrating..
  11. hey, Im from brasil too. Im a green card holder so Im thinking about going to brasil for nursing school and then comeback to the states and become a RN here. how did you guys get your license here? how long did it take? how hard was the toefl exam?
  12. yea, maybe i ll just give a call to ny board to ask about the time frames. but, will my 4 year bsn degree from brasil be recognized as a bsn nurse in the us? does anybody know? is not worth for me to go there for 4 years and then they say its consider a diploma here..
  13. I will be careful about my green card. I ll be coming home every 6 months and if I still face problems with that, I ll apply for student permit that allows me to stay out of the country for as least 2 years. I would probably apply for a license in NY first, since is 15min for where I live. has anybody here done all these steps and became a RN here in the usa without any problems?
  14. I live in Connecticut and Im taking my pre requisites classes in a local community college for the RN program. but is very competitive, there's a wait list and Im just a average student. I don't have amazing grades to get in the program, so I would be on the wait list. however, Im from brasil. I could go to school there, its 4 years for a bachelor(bsn) degree and I would enroll right away. Im a us permanent resident(green card holder) so I would have no immigration problems to come back. I hope to work in either ny or Connecticut and hopefully someday in Florida. I read here that I would have to go trough the cgfns to evaluate my transcripts, but how long would that take? other questions. will my bsn degree be recognized as a bsn nurse in the us? will I need to take the toefl test even if I had done college English classes here in the us? and how hard is the toefl test? will I be able to go grad school to get a master degree after all this is done? is there any chance of my degree be denied here and being worthless? thank you.
