When I took fundamentals last semester, we used Pearson's "My Nursing Lab" online as a supplemental learning tool, which had lessons and practice quizzes. I also dowloaded the free "Lippincott's NCLEX Q&A" app to use whenever I had a spare moment. The topics in the app correlated pretty spot on with the chapters in our fundamentals book. The podcast suggestion above sounds like a nice idea too--wish I knew about that last semester; it sounds like that would be pretty helpful!

I took the TEAS yesterday, so I'm crossing my fingers that I get in! Devyn, I was in the same situation as you. I started college with the plan of completing my general ed classes and then transferring to a CSU. Then after getting my AA in transfer studies, decided I wanted to major in nursing. Well, I ended up moving to Southern California (Long Beach, coincidentally!) and after getting established here, have spent the last year completing my science prerequisites. I'm 23 years old now, and just finished physiology and I'm finally ready to apply. I have to admit, it's been frustrating to still be in a community college, and I have friends my age who are already working in hospitals as RNs with their BSN degree! But although I wish I had completed these prereqs sooner, I can't change the past. I'm just happy that I'm at the next step towards to my goal. Don't feel rushed, it more important to focus on getting the grades you'll need than worrying about how fast you get it done. Nursing is a very challenging pathway and it takes time to get there...but you will! Your parents should know that nursing takes a little more time than other majors...especially because of the impacted classes and the extra science prerequisites. Oh, and don't dwell on the C in pre-cal...if you keep getting As in the rest of your classes, I doubt the C will hurt your chances...you can still end up with a very competitve GPA. Good luck with your classes. I know it seems far away but it's so worth the time and effort once you've finally completed them all!
