  1. @NurselukasNZ, Yes, it helps A Lot!! Thanks! I hope to take the test in the next few months. Please be sure to alert us of when you sit for your Clinical portion! Good luck to you.
  2. NurselukasNZ.. First, congratulations to you! How did you study? I am going to take the NMC Pearson Vue test in June or July.
  3. Hey jabbajaws, When are you going to the UK? I am so excited for you!!!🙌
  4. Oh, snap!!! Reading IS Fundamental!!!
  5. Hey y'all!!!! The passing rate for the NMC test must have gone up since the revision of the test. What are y'all studying and what's the word on the streets?
  6. Lotus RN 1972 here!!!! I am a US nurse (and nurse manager) wanting to work in the UK. New regulations, tests, and procedures have my little mind spinning. I know that the theory test is through Pearson Vue,yet am not sure of what study guide to study from: Saunders, ATI, Kaplan....Huh? What? In the US, to become a nurse, one must take the NCLEX test to work in the state of residence to work. The new UK registration testing is almost as nerve-racking as the NCLEX. Anyone have any words of advice??? Thanks in advance
  7. You ROCK!!!! Thank you. I am thinking about the visa/ permit route; the class is pricey but I need to look around. Thanks again!
  8. Anywhere around London. I would like to be near there to work yet live on the outskirts. I would like to get more info. The program sounds like a new graduate program in the US.Those are really hard to come by here..
  9. Thank you Skylark, Can you tell me more about sponsorship or training hospital that would be able to hire me. I would like to get there with a work permit. I was told that it takes 8-9 months to get registered with the NMC. HELP.....
  10. Thanks Ms. Jenne, I am so excited, I could implode! I have been in dialysis because no one would hire me elsewhere. Anyway, it is nice to know that I could expand. Thank you for responding and I will look at the website attached... :)
  11. Hey Ya'll, I KNOW that this thead has been around FOREVER but hear it goes: I am currently a dialysis nurse and have been here since I graduated: after school I had no in- hospital experience and I could only work in a clinic/ elder care facility :'( Need less to say, I still can not work in a hospital ( a phenomenon know to new graduates as " How do you gain experience in a hospital if the hospital won' t hire me" Blues. Anyhoo, this circle of crazy is driving me to madness and I am ready for a new challenge. Yeah, nurses are not paid as much in the UK; somethings are just more important than money. My question is: can I break away from dialysis into another discipline ? I have other experiences elder care, emergent care, yet dialysis is my specialty. Thanks for reading my post ♡ PS: Continential Travel Nursing is the company that I have decided to work with to sponsor me in the UK...
  12. Thanks ProfRN!!! It's only a matter of days; my head is about to explode! New York is the Mecca for EVERYTHING!!! I hope that you enjoyed the holidays...as well as ALL of the AllNurse-ing Crusaders!!!
  13. Hey Pepnp5!!! It is really funny that you mention the Bronx; there is a clinic that I am to be placed there. My plan is to get a job and move my fam to the city; during the assignment, I can look at different areas to (since I ain't payin' rent for 3 months). I am open to the Bronx. Thank you you made a huge difference and brightened my day. I am still waiting for my license; it shouldn't be long now. Thanks, a lot!!! Sincerely, LotusRN1972
  14. Wow! Thanks Journey987! My kids want to move to Brooklyn, too. I am not traveling with the pups, unfortunately; I gave them to a a great home. The teenagers have to stay Am====== M===== sounds Great! I will set some stuff up with them when I get there; Thanks for the tip! I graduated in 2011 and have no actual "in-hospital experience" but no one here would hire me in a hospital because I had no "in-hospital experience." I just made no sense to me. I have put urinary catheters in folks, passed boo-koo meds, did lab draws, performed CPR on a dead person, have urgent care experience, assessed, changed colostomy bags, dealt with families, tube feedings and the works... you name it, I have done it; just not in a hospital on a Med- Surg floor. I want to eat my arm off everytime I think of how crazy it is here in San Diego. Thanks, again!!! LotusRN1972
  15. Thanks, Destin293!!! I am always looking for indepth insight, like yours. I am feeling better each time I recieve a response. I feel as if I am more familiar each day. That makes me, as a single Mom feel great. Keep the good vibes SNOWIN'!!! LotusRN1972
  16. Whoa ProfRN4!!! I absolutely love culture( as we say in New Orleans "cul'chuh"), I speak Spanish ( not to the point of translating, but I get by), I practice Buddhism and Hinduism, love authentic foods of the world, and am as county as all out doors (I know how to " Let grown folk talk"). Thank you so much for giving me the scoop! I'll talk to you soon:D
  17. Thanks estrellaCR, As a new grad, I started to do what the other kids were doing: applying at hospitals in new grad programs and working at ANY job that would take me: from rehab centers, dialysis clinics, urgent care facilities, flu clinics, health fairs, and LTAC facilities; I WERKED cuz I had mouths to feed. I am signed up with several travel agencies, so I really feel good about that... Thanks again LotusRN1972 :)
  18. Thanks DoGoodThenGo!!! I have an 18 year old son and twin 15 year olds; a girl and boy. My oldest son's friend is living with us. My teens will be in the 10th grade; do most nurses send their kids to private schools; this may be an option. I have a lot to consider. Thanks again!!! LotusRN1972
  19. Groovy Solidus_Snake!!! I remember 22; eons ago. Thank you for the great 40 wishes!!! I am having a slight mental breakdown; I have been getting work at nursing agencies in San Diego, my rent is due, and my check is not in mail....this has been my life since I became an RN here... I digress... So your left this joint or are in the process of leaving; I am waiting for my NYS license. I will PM you...got bookoo questions!!! LotusRN1972
  20. Thanks DoGoodThenGo! I am very open to commuting; I have reliable car but can catch the subway/ bus like the best of them. I am partial to Brooklyn ... Thank you, kindly
  21. Thank you Meriwhen! I had to let go of the 2 pups but the kids have to stay. Wow, you have a lot of insight, I am so glad that I came to allnurses; I was researching on my own. There are several travel agencies here in CA that is clamoring for me to get my NYS license; I hope that that is a good thing. All messages are met with much respect and gratitude. Thanks again.
  22. Thank you so very much Mindylane and LM NY!!! Two of the most valuable bits of advice since ever!!! I am going to stick with the travel agency and go from there; the sky is the limit. Thanks again Sincerely, LotusRN1972
  23. Hello Everybody!!! I am moving to the Big Apple along with my 4 kids and 2 pups. I am a single mom and would like to work with a travel agency (that provides housing) in NYC or land a job at Mt. Sinai or NYPH. My question is: where do RN's and their families live in the city. I have gone on a popular website for apartments/housing yet want to get a feel of what other nurses think. Thank ya, kindly... Sincerely, LotusRN1972 PS: I just turned 40 and I feel AWWWwwwwwSome!!! *(TeeeheeHee)*
  24. Av03, Thank you for the response! I got it. You Rock!!!
