Persistence is paying off...
I was also professionally recommended for direct accession this friday. I will be graduating from nursing school this December. I kept hearing that the odds were against me but darn it feels good to hear some good news! To all you new grads out there: There is still hope! I guess I am one of the lucky ones but I was able to do this all in one shot. Started applying in May, Sent my kit off in July, and Got pro-rec'd in just now. I'm excited to hear when final selections will be coming, but from what I have heard it's pretty much a done deal from this point. Congratulations again to everyone out there who made it!

BSN Hopefuls for CRNA or RN to BSN?
I am a nursing student as well, graduating from UT Austin this December. I want to go to CRNA school as well, and I do know that it is REQUIRED that you get your BSN from an accredited institution(TCU is obviously accredited). Any time you go want to ascend in nursing, especially with college degrees, you must have your BSN. I can't speak for ADNs everywhere, but I'm pretty sure the opportunities are rare beyond being a charge nurse or floor supervisor. Also, once you graduate, you'll have to do a minimum of 2 years in an ICU. ER nurses can apply for CRNA school as well, but very few schools take ER experiences now. Hopefully this helps you out!

Direct Commission into Navy Nurse Corps
Hey guys, I have just finished submitting my packet for direct commission into the navy nurse corps upon my graduation from nursing school this December 2011. I am just waiting to get my physical and do the 2 nurse interviews before my packet goes to the board in August. With that in mind, I wanted to know if anyone here had any inside information as to the average length of time it takes for them to get back to you? My recruiter was very vague, so I decided to post on here. I also was wondering if anyone knows the actual number of new graduates the navy will take in per fiscal year(especially FY12). Graduation is coming all too soon and I wish I could just set my future in concrete already! Thank you in advance for your help!
