Hi! I just moved to Florida and have applied to attend PHCC at their North Campus. I plan on applying to the generic RN track when I get my pre-reqs out of the way, but I have a few questions and concerns that haven't been addressed clearly. First is credit transfer. I moved down here in the middle of a college semester (I didn't have a choice because I'm still living with my parents and didn't have enough financial aid to move on campus for the remainder of the semester) so now I have A LOT of W's on my transcript. They told me that I have to have passed at least 67% of all attempted hours to qualify for financial aid. I've only passed 52% of attempted hours. Do I have to transfer my credits? One man has told me no while another has told me yes. I'm not worried about retaking any classes because most of them aren't even required at PHCC so it's no loss at all. (Keep in mind I know that I won't qualify for in-state financial aid. I've lived here for a month, so I'm not a Florida resident yet.) My second concern is with the RN program itself. The only information staff will share with me is a list of pre-reqs. They haven't told me anything about test scores and minimum GPA. I'm going to work my butt off regardless, so the minimum GPA doesn't really matter, but what about test scores? What do I need to aim for? I'd like to set a goal for myself. I'm thinking that, since I've heard it's competitive, I should shoot for an 89% TEAS or higher? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have an advising appointment on Monday, so I guess I'll learn more then. I just want to see what other students think. Thanks, Jeremy. P.S. I won't be able to apply for the nursing program until Fall 2012, so I'm probably getting ahead of myself. What are your suggested courses of action? What classes should I take first? Any extra classes outside of pre-reqs?
