Anyone applying to UAB MSN program?
Luvlee: It took me 2-3 days after turning in the first 4 documents to set up my blazer account. I had called the SON office prior to that and they told me once those first 4 were received I would be able to set it up after a few days and I was able to do that. Also, I was able to go ahead and complete all of my financial aid requirements. I also set up my immunization tracker by uploading everything as one document and applying it to all of my requirements. The only thing that was not approved was my meningococcal section. You must put N/A here if it is not a requirement for you. It cannot simply be left blank. I had to resubmit with N/A and am awaiting to see if it is now complete. JK: We have the same classes next semester. I too think a facebook page for our class is a great idea. I think that would be an awesome way for us to compare, encourage, and help eachother. One more thing...I got the patho and issues books. The Patho book is HUGE!!! The good news is everything in it so far is familiar from previous classes, but there is a lot of content. The issues book is much smaller:yelclap:

CCRNDiva, hang in there. I've often found that in life, the set backs that hurt the most make us stronger and more capable of going into our future with a renewed perserverence to make our dreams come true. As long as this is your dream and you believe in yourself, you will see it realized one day. Know that just being who you are and doing what you do is amazing to a lot of people that rely on us to care for them. Keep your chin up and don't give up. The nursing profession needs passionate and dedicated nurses like yourself to take nursing to the next level so take this as a small set back and keep moving forward until you achieve your dream.

Any UAB NP students/graduates?
Hey guys, Just wanted to say I'm sorry you guys weren't accepted. It is obvious that you are both really motivated and sicerely dedicated to pursuing higher learning. It may not count for much, but I think you both deserve to be in the program. I have to agree with NurseAbby, please don't give up. The nursing profession needs nurses like you that are willing to take nursing to the next level and that put as much heart into it as you two seem to. I'm pretty sure the window is not closed for Troy's Fall program. I can't remember the exact date, but I recall it being sometime in August. I wish you both the best of luck in your future studies and I know you'll go far.

At my facility, the human resources person and several of the medical records personnel are notaries.

Yeah, I thought it was kinda strange that we had to get a copy notarized and then fax it, but as long as they take it, I guess it's all good.

Anyone applying to UAB MSN program?
I've been working on my paperwork too. I'm pretty much down to my physical and my UDS. There isn't a labcorp test site near where I live, but they are sending me paperwork so that I can do my UDS through my hospital's lab since my hospital contracts with labcorp. Has anyone been able to set up their Blazer account or does anyone know when we will be able to do it?

Thanks Annaiya! It sounds like patho is going to be a bit of a booger and not to be taken lightly. Since I'll be taking two other classes, I just want to make sure I know what I'm taking on. Should be an interesting semester, but I like a challenge even when it doesn't like me back.

Annaiya, Is patho mainly writing or more testing? I am curious about Issues as well. What kind of work is typically required for these courses? Also, I have to take descriptive stat.s because this was never a requirement for me. Do you know anything about this course? Thanks! It looks like my first semester will actually be full-time.

JK, I don't mind at all and I definitely don't think you're rude for asking. I was curious about these things too prior to getting my packet. I was just wishing I knew what they were looking for. Even now, I'm not really sure what they were looking for, but I think it helped that I am an Alabama resident. I've heard they give preference to residents (not absolutely sure on this one). I had a 3.77 GPA on my last 60 credit hours and a 4.0 for my BSN and I'm pretty sure this helped too. Also I'm a member of Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi. That may have helped too. I also had some really good references from people that are really passionate about seeing me progress and I put a lot of thought into my essay and why I felt furthering my education in the direction of NP was so important to not only my future but to the future of the profession. I think mainly, they are looking for dedication and motivation, not necessarily the ultimate GPA and I tried my best to express this in everything I put into my application. Hope this helps. I've still got my fingers crossed for you.
