  1. I've been on my unit for 2 months. I've made several major errors that put me on management's radar. My manager called me into the office and said legally, he must offer me a chance to join my organization's nursing union. I'm not terminated but legally it must be offered to me. What does this mean? Should I join or not join the union? He said I must come up with a decision by tomorrow/
  2. Tell me about yourself? This is a question I am anxious about. So many of my classmates have graduated Summa Cum Laude, President of nursing club, and so many distinctions. I feel like the only thing I can say is I graduated with a BSN and I passed NCLEX. During school, my grade point average was 3.3 which is OK. I participated in NSNA but have not held any position. What can I talk about?
  3. I've recently graduated from my BSN program in Southern California. Many who have graduated are still unemployed or have moved out of state. It's likely that I'll need to relocate as well for a new grad program. I'm deciding whether I should temporarily relocate for a new grad program or stay here in SoCal and try finding work nursing facilities. I've gotten mixed feedback about SNFs. Positives are "at least it's some experience" that hospitals can look at. While others warn about the hectic work and burn out. I'm very unsure of what to do.
  4. My Psych rotation was pretty much observation, attending group meetings, some interviewing of patients, and helping nurses with whatever I could. this was a similar response from other students as well. I was placed in a psychiatric floor for my first externship. I will be on an unlocked unit. My school instructor told me that rarely are there IVs, foleys, trachs, pretty much few patients that require a lot of hands on care/nursing skills. I'm concerned that I will be an observer with not much to do. I also don't want to be a burden to my preceptor and follow her for the entire shift. Every week, I need to submit 5 measurable outcomes to reach. what should I focus on? How I can make myself useful and make the most out of this experience?
