  1. I started out by attending OU and then transferred to Wayne State and was accepted into their Nursing program. My advice to you is to pick a college you want to get into the most and start with the prerequisites for that specific college's Nursing program. It may take you 1-2 years depending on their requirements. Classes at OU are very easy, compared to Wayne State IMO. At Oakland University we were babied somewhat and treated a lot like high school students. At WSU you're on your own! LOL So go into one college you like, focus on their program and if you don't get in, then look into other schools. Many colleges have similar prerequisites, you can look them up ahead of time and take those extra classes and later transfer them. Good luck to you!
  2. Anyone knows if orientation will last exactly until 4:30 pm? Is there any chance they will let us out early?
  3. Yea, they have all their prices posted on their website, just google Wayne State student health center, and you can view all their prices online But if any of you peeps live in Oakland County, you can get some of your shots for free at Oakland County Health Center, I got my second MMR, TDap and HepB today free of cost, oh and TB test is free there too. I also got my criminal check results today too, it took them less than 24 hours (if anyone's interested it cost only $28). Also, it makes sense that we cannot wear shorts *nods* We will be meeting faculty and the dean and a bunch of other important people.
  4. HELP peeps!!! Okay, i just ordered criminal background check online. All looked good and then I received an email telling me to log back on to complete "important to-do list'. So I log on and the list is empty So my question is am i missing something? Am I not seeing what needs to be done? Did anyone else have to do (or rather not do) any additional stuff? *exhales* Okkies, done talking. Thanks for listening! P.S. Anyone got liability insurance yet?
  5. I looked at the Fall schedule and classes start Aug 31st
  6. I know what you mean, with all the requirements we need to fulfill. I'm getting all my immunization records together and HepB shot before I do the physical. Have anyone requested criminal background check online? How long does it take to get the results? Do they send them directly to College of Nursing? And how much is it? What about ACE requirements (the Hippa, OSHA thingy)? Is it like e tutorial with question we have to answer at the end?
  7. Actually you use Access id number to log in to Pipeline, it's different from your student id number. Access id has 2 letter and 4 numbers and student id has 9 numbers, and it's primarily used on all your exams forms and such. But thanks for the info!!
  8. Hmm, they would say student id number if it were the 9 digit number, no? But maybe they mean personal id number? It's just confusing, and the application has to be submitted by July 15th. And for those who's worried about summer heat, trust me Wayne State keeps their buildings air conditioned, I've actually been bringing a sweater with me in 90+ degree weather
  9. Hey all!! Congrats wsugolfer Does anyone know what is this "PID" number is on Nursing Scholarship application?? Oh and I'm thinking about wearing jeans or shorts with conservative-ish top. Or a sundress with a cardigan on top. I think it should be casual, but without any parts hanging out. Anyway, I would recommend to dress more modest on the first day and then see what peeps are wearing. For a guy I would say a polo shirt and jeans? Or shorts?
  10. Does anyone know how much is this "Malpractice Insurance" is? My friends attended other Nursing schools and they were covered thru their schools, so no one was able to tell me the estimate.
  11. Hey guys! Are we supposed to get anything in the mail before the orientation? An email maybe? I know that traditional orientation is on July 14-15th. But what time? Is it posted somewhere on the website and I'm missing it somehow?
  12. No worries! They might mention One card, but as you're already admitted, it means you are now officially Wayne State student and it's your responsibility to get it. You have to go to the Welcome center and they will direct you from there. It's free of charge and takes only few minutes. You can ask about parking pass while there, I think they sell it at the same office. Then when you log on to your Pipeline, you can access your One Card Account and transfer funds into it. The card can be used anywhere on campus (buying food or even making copies at the library), sort of as a debit card. I personally don't have a parking pass, so I put in $15-20 at a time on it and use that for parking.
  13. Did you have to pay for the class in advance?
  14. Whoot!! Congratulations
  15. Once you get your Wayne One card you can load money on it and use it for parking in any parking structure/lot. It costs $3 per entry. Or you also could get a prepaid parking pass for a whole semester (they are about $260-270). That way you can reenter parking structure as many times as you want without paying for it every time. But you will be restricted to one particular structure/lot. If you decide to get a pass (which is kinda nice, you can park in the am then leave for lunch and come back later without paying twice) I recommend you get a pass for Structure #1 (on Palmer St), it's the closest to CoN building.
  16. Just to clarify that I'm looking at the right CPR course, it's the $110 one, right? Not the $40 class.
  17. Hi WayneStateKatie I just want to thank you soooo soooo much for all your tips and advice. You've been beyond helpful!! I looked over the requirements and was ready to freak out LOL But then I sat down and made a list and it's not that bad. Also, it's good to know they can do medical assessment/check at the student health center, and they are probably familiar with everything we need. What about HepB shot? Did you need to do that?
  18. Thank you!! Congratulations to you too I can't describe how I feel right now, this is so exciting!!
  19. Hey! The students who got admitted have to sign and submit the Acceptance letter by July 6th. I suppose you were "waitlisted", in case someone refuses or changes their mind you would be the alternative.
  20. Whoot!! I've been admitted (traditional program)!!!! What a relief Congrats to all who got accepted!
  21. One of my friends had all his prereq's complete but never got an interview Far as I know, there is a certain GPA criteria you have to meet to qualify for an interview. I was told last year everyone who's GPA was 3.4 or higher got an interview, but I'm not sure how accurate this info is. Hope this helped
  22. I'm not sure. The nursing school adviser just told me there were 1200 applicants for 2010. I was pretty stunned to ask any more questions after that LOL
  23. I'm sure they will have all the stats and numbers available once the decisions are made. I spoke with the nursing adviser back in March and she told me they had 173 "eligible" applicants for the traditional program last year. Eligible meaning all 173 students had GPA of 3.5 or better (they had about 1200 applicants overall for 2010). Of those 173 only 48 got accepted. This year they are also accepting 48 people for traditional and 48 for CD2. Hope that helped
  24. I wonder what happened to the "Decisions will be announced the third week of June" statement they made in their email? Thank you wsugolfer for the update!
  25. Yes, mine says Interview 2. I was in the second round June 7-9th. There also was a first round of interviews back in May. I don't call them because I've had some not very pleasant experience with the staff at Office of Student Affairs while submitting my prereqs and stuff. So I'm just staying away LOL I'm hoping to see results by the end of this week, I'm going mental!
