  1. thought i would get some feedback from others on this topic. i come from a L&D unit from a community hospital with no staff education, high turn over rates and new physicians with great god complexes. it is basically unsafe to work on this unit and i will be looking for a new position at a different hospital. i know this time around i need to ask specific questions about the floor as to not get stuck in that kinda position again. i have a list started but wanted to know what is important to you when interviewing, and what kinds of things should i be asking???? thank you nichole
  2. as a newer nurse in this field i am stuck in a hospital with a high turn over rate leaving me one of the "senior" nurses on my shift. i have been on l&d for 1.5 years and still lack confidence at times. our educator in my opinion is horrible. she passed everyone in neonatal reses. without actually practicing or reviewing the tests. she has not had "stable" coorifices that she promised me i would have within the 2 months since i was hired. i have repeatedly asked her about the coorifices along with bereavement training as we have a fair amount of demises and i am either told nothing or told "next month." i am scared to death of sick newborns and have expressed this numerous times. i am tired of waiting for her to get on the ball and dont feel its safe to wait on this type of education. any things that you guys do to self educate, or places i can look for coorifices that may be offered outside of my hospital. anything would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance! nichole
  3. hi everyone! im new to the boards and am looking into persuing my education and getting my BSN but the main problem i have is the huge cost for the schools i am interested in. i make to much for finacial aid and i cant locate any scholarships that qualify for. the hospital i work for offers a few hunderd for tuition reimbursment, but it would hardly make a dent. if i take out a student loan i dont want the payments towards the loan to be more than my increase in pay. for those of you who have gotten their BSN's how did you fund this expensive cost. Im looking for any suggestions, tips, hints, anything! thanks nichole i have posted this twice! sorry, i am unsure of how to navigate this place at this current time
