  1. Hello everyone. I was wondering if there are any nurses here that have been diagnoses with bipolar disorder. I'm a male, in my 30s, and was diagnosed a couple years ago. I've been thinking of nursing for some time and really would like to pursue it. I'm taking medication and tend to be very functional and stable. As any of you with bp know, its a very difficult thing to live with. However, I feel it has increased my compassion for people and would help in some ways dealing with people with similar problems. I would very much like to go into a Masters program in Psych nursing and work as an NP. I have all the prerequesites. So, any ideas on this. I am familiar with the stigma we are dealt, and I realize this is a challenging undertaking. However, it had been my dream for some time, and I know that its possible. Anyone else in this situation please I'd love to talk with you.
  2. I'm presently working on beginning an RN program at a 2 year college. I have a BS in Biology. I've read in some places that a BSN is required for entrance into CRNA programs. Suppose I decide to go into this speciality? Will I be out of luck?
  3. Hello all, I'm presently working on getting into an RN program. I'm taking some of the prerequisite courses now, keeping my GPA up, and volunteering at a local ER. I would, however, like to increase my range of expiences in the ER. There is a CNA program at the school where I am taking my prereq. courses. It takes about three months to complete. My question is, is it worth it to do this? Money is not a factor as it is not that expensive. My thought was working as a CNA would be more valuable then volunteering. I have also considered EMT training, but I believe this would take more time, which would be difficult with my present courseload. Any ideas?
  4. Wow, Strangely enought, I have picked this book somewhat at random at the public library. I am waiting to read it. I am a 33 m working on getting into an RN program and burn patients fascinate(and scare) me.
