Hello, I graduated in May and passed my board last month. I moved to Hampton in June and still pretty new to the area. I am applying pretty much all around Hampton Roads hospitals, home care, etc and turned down 3 times so far due to having no experience. I have no medical background or any kind of experience. I am already getting pretty discouraged. I am trying to find some long term care/nursing home but since I am not very familiar with the area, I am only googling. (I went to school in another state) Any suggestions? Thank you very much...

fmAtoZ@backagain, Thank you very much. There was 4 weeks in between the review class and the test but I studied daily the last 10 days of it. I studied every day for 3-4 hours, weekends the same(the last weekend I studied 7-8 hours) My QT results weren't so good. Diagnostic result 61% QT 1 61% QT2 58% QT3 58% QT4 57% QT5 57% QT6 55% QT 63% Readiness test 61% QT4,5,6 and 7 I took them on those last 10 days(the 7th one, 2 days before the test). My results weren't good and it was discouraging at times. I reminded myself that it is better to make these mistakes now than later and I can review and fix it. Qbank results were better. They were steadily low 60s but last week they got a lot better. High 60s to mid 70s. I think more I answer the Kaplan questions more I get used to them and I figured out how to answer them. I have to admit I didn't like many questions but I learnt how to answer them somehow:) I hope I could help.

One more thing. If you are using Kaplan and getting low scores don't stress about it. Instead, use it as a positive experience and review those parts. It is better you are missing those questions during preparation than actual test. Because you can fix it. Good luck again:)

I am an RN:nurse:, OMG what a relief. I got my test yesterday morning, 75 questions ;19 SATA, so many drugs and so many infection control and a very few prioritization. Right after the test I was pretty sure I failed because of the questions I got. They weren't as challenging as I thought it would be and since I didn't get who do you see first type of questions. Well, PVT gave me the good pop up all they yesterday, I even tried it at 3-4 am and it was still good pop-up. I called the BON of VA in the morning and they gave me my license number. When I was getting ready for my test, I read so many posts here and so many of them helped me a lot,and I decided to write my 2 cents so maybe i can help others. I used Kaplan to get ready. I personally thought the review class was a waste of time and money, however I liked the Qbank questions a lot. I did the QTtests as well. I did the 7th one 2 days before my test. My grades were okay. My highest was 63% on the last test and the lowest was 55%. I like the Qbank questions a lot. There are so many questions which is very nice, just practicing makes a big difference. I didn't like their rationals a lot, some were detailed some were not. But I did review the procedures, disease or drugs that I wasn't very familiar with. I got so many drug questions, they were very different. I have never heard of them. In Kaplan questions, the drugs are mostly known ones and they ask questions about same drugs or similar ones. I bought La Charity book 5 days before my test. I have heard of it but I was so busy with Kaplan I didn't think of getting it. I was at B&N studying and decided to check that book out and I liked it. I didn't have time to do the case study part but first part was very helpful. I don't think that by itself will be enough, since there are not enough questions. The questions were challenging and the rationals were well written. I studied hard about 10 days. Before that I was reading here and there for sure. I went to bookstore, library every day for 3-4 hours for 10 days. The QT tests helped me to see my weaknesses and Qbanks helped me to think the NCLEX way. I suggest you to calm down and study hard. You don't have to do Kaplan but you have to answer so many questions no matter what book or what review course. Study isolations, OMG I think they saved me since I am not good at pharm. Take your time during test. I was answering questions so fast before, I learnt to slow down because some questions are tricky and you need to be aware of that. I couldn't calm myself during the test, my heart was beating so fast that I felt like I was going to pass out but I survived so you can too. Best of luck to you all:up:

Hello all, I took my NCLEX-RN this morning at 8am in Virginia (july/18/2011). I got 75 questions, lots of meds, 19 SATA(some of the med questions were in SATA format), a very few prioritization. Since this is the content of my test I am not confident at all about passing. I tried the PVT and it keeps giving me good pop-up but since VA BON doesn't anticipate the quick result I can't really relax over the good pop-up. Please share your experiences, I am freaking out especially there were not many prioritization questions?
