  1. I am a runner, also- in my 2nd semester of my LPN program. I consistently run 15-20 miles/wk, sometimes more if my stress level goes up. I ran my first half marathon in my first semester of LPN school. It was kind of crazy, but the feeling of accomplishment was worth it! I am a single mom of three sons, so it seems ironic that I find more time to run during the semester than I did on summer break. It's easy enough to pack up my running gear, and hit the road for a 70 min, 7 mile run between lecture or lab and studying. I have also found a nice little spot in the trees, by a creek, to do some sit-ups and talk to God. Prayer and exercise are a winning combo! It also increases the circulation in my brain... I have noticed when I don't take the time to run I have increased difficulty concentrating. Exercise while taking 17 units is a must, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm considering signing up for my second half marathon during my second semester. I know it seems difficult to justify taking the time off from the books, but trust me it is WELL worth it!:yelclap:
  2. Yes, I'm the single mom you saw borrow the book. That's a good idea to study the normal lab values, too. Can you forward them, if it's convenient? If not, I too can email Elisa. Maslow's Hierarchy and nursing diagnoses... soon we will be breathing that I have a feeling! Feeling a little like the calm before the storm... and encouraged to share faith with a colleague. Thank you, Brent!
  3. Hi Brent. I borrowed Fundamentals of Nursing from one of the panel at our orientation, and I intend on reading a few chapters ahead before class starts (after finals). Good job on taking the pharm class ahead of time! Do you plan on working during the program? I am nervous too, and sure am grateful for my faith! Thanks for the reply. It's tomorrow that we can register for the remaining "over 15" units, right?
  4. I have been accepted into the VN program at SRJC for Spring 2012, and am looking for others that will be in my class. I feel it may be beneficial to discuss the pre-admission requirements with another student, two brains are better than one! Any one? Thank you :)
  5. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! I am a single Mom of 3 sons- age 15, 13 and 3. I work two jobs and go to school. I have to move into a different house before December, so am waiting to find out if I got in... and if I am accepted I need to move my 3 br house before the semester begins. If I am not accepted, I can wait until December because then I won't be moving during a time when I'm not capable. So I guess in a period of 2 months I will have to find a house, move, get financial aid (&/or school loans), figure out which job I will keep (if any), arrange for correct child care hrs, get my books, and jump through whatever other hoops they need us to at the college???!!! WOW I'm tired just thinking about it LOL. Oh well tks for listening. Fact of the matter is, if I get in I will be grateful no matter what. I have faith that there is a divine purpose for all timing, and hope it may be this yr. Either I will be accepted and be very tired but grateful... or I won't be accepted, can relax... and will try again next year. Right? I understand I am powerless and will wait in faith :heartbeat I hope you are able to let go of the outcome too, I do believe we are powerless at this point! Tks for commiserating Mamma Nurse2Be! Pls feel free to vent, I feel much better.
  6. I am in the same boat. I, too, was 200-450 on the waiting list last yr. In the meantime I became certified as a CNA/HHA and here I am again! Aaaaack I'm going crazy too. Last yr the denial letter came on June 7- but I don't know whether to expect it to be later or not? I spoke w/-------- he said there were around 550 applicants this year! And yes, I hear you about the summer w/the kids- and planning the work schedule, etc. Best of luck to you too! I sure hope it's this week...?...
  7. I am looking for other hopeful applicants to the ADN program at SRJC for Fall 2011/Spring 2012? Does anyone have any info re: acceptance/denial email and when to expect it? I am certainly learning lessons in surrender and patience! Looking for co-commiserators:eek:
