Will nursing grow on me?
My advice would be to hang in there. You are almost done. I wasn't sure I'd like nursing either when I was in nursing school. I'd never had any desire to be a nurse but at the time it was where the jobs were. I've been a nurse for 32 years and I don't regret one minute of it. The first year is hard, but once you get the hang of it and acquire some orgainzational skills it is much easier. There are plenty you things you can do with a nursing degree within a hospital and outside a hospital. I've done hospital floor nursing, case management, worked at an HMO, worked at the State Medical Society, and a malpractice insurance company. Right now I work in Quality Improvement and just love it. If you like projects, and trying to figure out how to do things better, its great. Good luck in what ever you decide!

need more responses to my survey: Staffing adequacy
Thank you all for taking the survey. The second part that some of you find confusing is the NASA Task Load index. It's a validated tool that they use in aeronautics. I thought I'd try and see how it works for nursing. The purpose is to help analyze staffing. They use it for air traffic controllers as well as flight crews etc. Each survey gets a score. The idea is not to have too high of a score. I am planning to compare the scores to things like how many discharges you had, how many admissions, how many patients you take care of as well as things like the effect of experience and level of education. Again, the link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RNStaffingsurvey Please send it on to any other direct care nurses that you know and thanks again.

need more responses to my survey: Staffing adequacy
A couple of weeks ago I posted a link to my survey that I am doing to complete my masters in Nursing Business and Health Systems at the University of Michigan. I got a few responses but not enough. Does anyone have ideas for me on where to get nurses to take my survey. It's for direct care nurses in a hospital setting only. Only takes about 10 minutes to compete. The link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RNStaffingsurvey. Any ideas would be a great help.

Help to a New Grad trying to choose a job!
I have been a nurse for 30 + years and have changed jobs a number of times. I think either job sounds like a good opportunity so pick the one you think you will like the best. Personally, I would take the job in the smaller hospital. They tend to have better jopb satisfaction among their staff.
