  1. It's not that it's the most important thing (the salary) I'm trying to compare each 3 jobs. :)
  2. Thanks for the advice. What does a mental health NP make? (in a small city)
  3. Mental Health NP Masters in Social Work Masters in Psychology? I want to do one of the three, but i'm having trouble choosing. I know social workers make around 30,000 if lucky, but what would the other two make? (in a small city) What are the main differences in all three jobs?
  4. Thank you both!! :) Kandee, how much did you make? The reason i'm asking is, i live in AR too! haha
  5. andreamae posted a topic in General Nursing
I'm thinking of taking the CNA course to work while i'm in RN school. I'm looking for some general on the course and what a CNA actually does. How long does the course itself take? Is it easy to find a job? What are the duties of a CNA in a nursing home? What are their duties in a hospital? What is the general pay (in rural areas)? Thank you SO much for helping me if you can :)
  6. Here in the US we have a lot of what we call "techs". They're a whole lot like nurses, but they can only work in one field. If a Surgical or a Lab technition wanted to come to the UK, would they have to get their RN degree or do you all have techs too? I've always been curious about that...lol
  7. What does an army medic do? Is it not possible to get my RN degree while working in the army?
  8. Ok, hypothetically, if i joined the army now at 18 with no college experience but i KNOW i want to be an RN, what should I do? What should I choose as my MOS? How do I go about going to RN school?
  9. Why does it take three years? It takes 2 here after getting a bachelors degree. I thought that the UK schools took less time to get through than anywhere else ??? maybe i'm confused...lol
  10. thanks for the info!!!! Where are the other 2?
  11. I'm not really worried about education costs, there are sooo many US scholarships and federal aid i am eligible for. what are PCT and gp surgeries? Ok the 3 years is the bachelors part right? I want to get my bachelors degree in the US, and then get my NP degree in the UK. (well i'm not for sure yet lol)
  12. Do they have Psych NP's in the UK? I've been really interested in that field lately. Does anyone know of any London schools that might offer it? Also, do NP's get paid more than staff nurses?
  13. Can anyone tell me how much work experience the NHS wants before they'll accept you from the USA? I've heard so many things...6 months, 1 year, 2 years...its so confusing...
  14. How would I go about getting my license in Oklahoma?
  15. If I get my degree in Arkansas, do I have retake any tests to move to another state like Oklahoma or Tennessee?
  16. I'm looking to move to this area for a little while after graudating. I was wondering if you could tell me of the CLOSEST hospitals to Hectorville. I hear its a very small area.
  17. Can anyone tell me the different kinds of graduate degree I can get? I know in the US we have different options (like CRNA) I don't want to be an NP though. Also, does anyone know where I can find all of the colleges in London that offer graudate degrees in nursing?
  18. It's very difficult here also. There are really high expectations of vets. If your daughter is smart and has really good grades it should be no problem. I'm sure it would also help if she had some experience with working around animals. She could volunteer at a vets office. I'm sure that would help her chances.
  19. We don't have "vet nurses" here in the US. Can anyone tell me what qualifications there are? Can a regular RN work in a vets office?
  20. carried a way or not, thank you very much :) both of you
  21. Hey, i was wondering if anyone could help me with misc. questions basically on living in the Uk. 1. Where can I find flats in the SW London area? 2. What is the weather like in England? 3. Is the public transportation in London easy to access? 4. How do I learn about job vacancies or places I might be able to work? 5. Where can I find all of the hospitals in the Fulham, Earls Court, and Kensington areas? I'll probably think of more later! Wait, i already did. My friend is moving with me, and he has a degree in Business Managment. How can he go about finding job posistions in London? anyone know of any websites that might be usefull to him?
  22. After some shadowing at the local hospital, i've decided that I'm in love with Operating Room nursing. In the US, we have a med/surg floor. Is it like that in the UK? Do they have OR nurses there? What are they called? I looked at the RCN website and I couldn't find anything Anyone have any good websites for me?
  23. I've recently been accepted into a Bachelor's Degree program here in the US (yeah i finally made up my mind!) and I'm looking into doing further education in the UK. What kind of further education beyond a Bachelors degree does the UK offer? and what grade would they get on the payscale? I don't wanna be an NP though!
  24. Does anyone know what makes them different? an Associates Degree is an RN, and it takes 3 years to complete. ???
