Got a 92% on HESI exam!!
Congrats on your HESI score..that is great! What school are you going to? A&P II and micro keep one busy wouldn't you say? We get our "unknowns" next Tuesday...blech...I am not looking forward to that. We rushed through learning all those lab tests...now I hope I can do them when the time comes. Luckily, I got a 96 and 100 on our tests so that gave me some wiggle room for the unknowns.

Need at least 92, any advice?
I took the HESI a week ago and found the grammar portion the easiest. I got a 92 overall but my school only requires the Math, Reading, Vocab sections, although I studied for the science and A&P. (whew) I don't remember many questions about commas, but there were a few questions you had to identify the correct form of there, their and they're, its and it's. There were a few sentences that had the words from and form switched around as well as lots of questions about using the right tense of verbs, etc. The vocab was tougher but some of it was medical terms and understanding the difference between prognosis, diagnosis, subjective, objective, assessment, etc., etc. I hope that helps! Good Luck to you both!

Got a 92% on HESI exam!!
Thanks!! Actually our school doesn't require the A&P section, to my surprise. It was only math, reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking and learning styles. I am in A&P II and microbiology right now, but have worked in the medical field for 18 years and thought I would do ok on the A&P part. I am just thrilled it is done. Being an "older" student I think helped a lot. There were quite a few in my class that did not pass the HESI. When are you scheduled to take yours? Some of the vocab was real tough and I thought my vocab skills were pretty darn good. The devil is in the details ya know. Do you notice when someone uses the wrong "their, there, they're" etc? I do and those types of questions are on the test. I also think it is testing our ability to make an educated guess about things using the process of elimination and logic, which of course is hard to study for. It took me about 2 1/2 hours total and was actually easier than I anticipated. The anticipation is worse than the test...if you know what I mean! Good luck. :)

Got a 92% on HESI exam!!
I scored a 92% on my HESI test yesterday! :w00t: I used three books to study from: http://www.amazon.com/McGraw-Hills-Nursing-School-Entrance-Exams/dp/0071599371/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1333228895&sr=8-10 and http://www.amazon.com/Barrons-Nursing-School-Entrance-Exams/dp/B005OHWQW4/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1333228995&sr=8-25 as well as the one that our school bookstore carried. They each covered the same concepts but different examples, etc., so I found them helpful.

No waiting list at Trinidad State Junior College, Trinidad, Colorado.
Yes, it is an associates degree, they do not have a BSN program. It is only a junior college, part of the Colorado Community College System. There is a bunch of info at their website: http://www.trinidadstate.edu/academics/program-sites/nursing.html Again, I don't work at the school. I just started taking my pre-reqs there last January!

No, I don't work for the school. I just know how frustrating the waiting lists are (been wanting to go to nursing school x 20 years now!) and I need a good roommate! Now that my son is grown and gone, I am finally able to go back to school and figured there are probably others like me!

I will be starting the nursing program this next fall at Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, Colorado (approx 200 miles south of Denver). There is no waiting list, the school admits students based on a point system, higher grades = more points, and last year they had enough spots for everyone that applied. I relocated from Denver and rented a big house and would have a room for rent, if anyone wants to look into going to school down here to avoid the waiting lists. - Amanda
