UT Health & Sciences Houston... # Game Now?!?!
I'm pretty sure UTHSCH asks for your work history to see if you currently work in the medical field in some capacity. I would assume that if a person works in the field would have much more exposure to the lingo/atmosphere than someone who didn't.

UT Health & Sciences Houston... # Game Now?!?!
Unfortunately getting into UTHSCH is all about numbers at this point. The higher your overall GPA, prereqs GPA, and science GPA...PLUS a high HESI score your chances are better to get into the program. They no longer look at interviews and really have nothing else to go by other than your scores. UTMB might be an option for you because they have an interview and essay portion that gives you an opportunity to explain yourself.

One of my roommates currently attends UTMB and she has nothing but good things to say about their program. She says that they send out a positive vibe from the first day. Professors are extremely friendly and one of the main things she's constantly said is that they truly encourage students to succeed. If there were ever a problem she was able to use their open door policy. She has been able to establish a friendly relationship with all of her professors. I can't say I've heard the same things come from UTHSCH, but then again I don't know anyone personally who can attest to their friendly professors that want students to succeed.

Titers are used to check for immunity. Regardless if we've taken the whole series of shots some programs require titers. I'm just not sure if UTHSC requires titers. The highest quote I got was over a $100 for Varicella and the cheapest being Rubella at $35. I haven't made enough phone calls to really get a good indication of where they provide affordable titers. One clinic I called told me it takes less than 3 days to get results back on titer tests. Once again, I haven't made enough phone calls to figure out where the most affordable place I can recommend.

Will UTHSC require titers once we complete all the immunizations??? I completed all my immunizations, but am still unsure if I should go ahead and wait to get the titers. I've called around for prices....omg each test is so EXPENSIVE!!!

San Jacinto ADN Spring 2012

San Jacinto ADN Spring 2012
There really is no other way to check for immunity without titers. Me too, I completed all my immunizations. Looks like I am gonna have to get titers completed to check for immunity.

San Jacinto ADN Spring 2012
went to the info session yesterday. here's what the adn dept. chair said. approximately 300-400 applicants will apply to the program. she couldn't give a definitive number, but she emphasized "approximately." statistics from last semester the average gpa on accepted applicants was between a 3.1-3.2 gpa. according to last semester adn fall 2011 intake, 100 generic and 40 transition(lvn) students were accepted. dept. chair couldn't give a definitive number of how many they're going to accept for spring 2012. all notifications of acceptance and denials will be sent via email, so make sure your email address is correct. all notifications of acceptance and denials will be sent 4 weeks after the deadline, not sooner than 4 weeks. applicant can have 1-2 courses in progress. courses in progress will not count towards the overall scoring rubric. adn dept. can't guess what a student is going to make in the courses in progress so it can't be tallied into the scoring rubric. if applicants have already completed their immunizations, get a titer completed to check for immunity. if not, there is still time to take a new series of immunizations. if an applicant fails a portion of the hesi, he/she can retest only for that portion instead of taking the whole entire test over again. the downside of this is the applicant has to pay full price for the exam regardless of how many portions of the exam they have to take. applicants do not have to take the personality profile portion of the hesi exam. the dept. has scrapped it and doesn't use it in weighing an applicant. as of oct 11, 2011 all seats are filled for the hesi exam at san jacinto. must take the exam off site at a prometric center. i hope this helps.

San Jacinto ADN Spring 2012
I'm not too far from the Central campus, maybe about 15 mins away. Not too bad of a drive. I currently take several courses there so it's alright. I'm actually gonna go to the Info Session today to ask a couple questions. I don't have a clue about how many students they accept or what the average GPA is.

San Jacinto ADN Spring 2012
