  1. I am finding the job first. At times like now, it's not smart to move without having a good job first. I am a little worried if I can support my family since I don't know what salary to expect...If anyone knows how much is the rent for 2 bdr appt 20-30 min from the city? Thank you very much everyone!!!
  2. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I will start my search. How is the weather in Chicago?
  3. Hi everyone! I am an RN with 2+ years of experience in New York looking to relocate to Chicago ( I also have in mind Philly and Baltimore- whereever I get a better offer). I wanted to ask if you could suggest a better area of the city or even suburbs, how is the school system( I have a 2-grader), what hospitals whould you recommend? How much an RN with 2+ years of experience would make? Aproximate cost of rent fpr 2 BDR apt. Thank you very much. any answer is appriciated!!!
  4. Nurse Stacy62, Thank you very much for taking your time to answer my questions!!! If you were me what other states would you apply to?
  5. My friend suggested Sarasota? Do u know anything about it? Yes 24-25 is a huge paycut. I don't know if I'l be able to make it with my mother and my child... Presently I make $40/hr in NY, but even making that much it is impossible to buy a house here...
  6. I am moving from Brooklyn, NY. It's been good here, but I need something else, my life is different now. Would you say that NC is a better place than FL? My friends are scaring me that I am young and single( I have an 8 y.o. daughter) and I will be bored in FL since the most of population are Elderly. What whould you say? How is the pay for RN's with 2 years of experience? Thank you very much!
  7. Nursestasy62, may I ask you why r u moving out of state?
  8. nursestacey62, thank you very much for your help!! would you say that it is better to start with hospital job than a home care when you move from state to state?Do home care agencies give you patients around your address( do I have to be present in FL first?)Thank you again!!!
  9. Is there anyone who moved from NY to FL with kids?
  10. Thank you very much for your reply. It is evry helpfull and informative. Schools in NY are as bad as you described in Jacksonville. I grew up in Europe (Latvia) and at 7 y.o. we had to stand in front of the class and "spit out" all the times tables at once!!! My daughter is 8 and I am the one who is pushing her to memorize times table since in school they give them homework to do where they have to multiply, but never mention to memorize it!!! This kind of education really sucks!!!Again, I am talking about public schools. I've heard good things about Sarasota and Fort Fauderdale. Is there anyone who lives there with children?Thank you very much!!!
  11. Thank you. Two of my friends left the hospital and went into home care=they like it much better- less stress. I would definately like to try it:)
  12. Hi everone! I am an RN with 2+ years of experience in Medsurg planning to move from Brooklyn,NY to FL. There are many reasons why I'd like to move: I have an 8 y.o- besides bad schools and lack of fresh air, it's overcrowded, noisy, dirty, extremely fast-paced and stressfull. Is there anyone who could recommend a city/ place to move in FL that would be great for kids(great schools, places to go) and interesting and for adults? Are there hospitals you could recommend for me to apply or home care agencies?Thank you very much, everyone!!!
  13. nursestacy62, I am planing to move from NY to FL, I have 2+ years working in a hospital and whould like ro transit into a home care in FL. The company you work for are concidering RN's with HC experience only or they'll give me a chance? Do home care agencies pay more than hospitals?Thank you very much:)
  14. Lisa 1980, I was planning to complete RN-BSN in 2 terms(or 1 year) I still don't understand how long do their (WGU') statistics or chem last? Is there a spesific amount of material I have to cover or number of papers to write or I can be ready in couple of weeks to take an exam(if they have it) ? I'd really appriciate an answer if someone knows what I mean. In terms of affordability- I can only do 2 terms at WGU(financially), but if chem and statistics can fit into one of them I'l go for it.:)
  15. Hi Klone, So r u planning to take chem, and otehr classes you need from WGU or somewhere outside? What do they mean by liber arts class? I bet you have it-anything can go in.
  16. Hi Lisa 1980! So you only need to do 5 more classes to get BSN from WGU?! Congrats! Would you suggest I take Statistics at my local college (I registered for this summer, it'll cost me 1.5 months of classes-3 times a week plus $525 from my pocket, or it is better to apply to WGU, pay for 6 months 3500 and take Statistics, Chemistry with nursing there? Thank you I really appriciate it:)
  17. Hi Lisa 1980, I am planning to move to FL, but wanted to complete my RN to BSN at WGU first. I wanted to make sure that FL board of nursing accepts BSN from WGU. How many calssed did you complete and how many more to go? Dod you have to take statistic at WGU? Thankx:)
  18. Hi! Is there anyone who took Chemistry, Statistics or nutrition class in WGU for RN-BSN? How was your experience? How lond did it take to to complete the course? I need all 3 classes and thinking to take statistics in regular college this summer (1.5 months)before I send my transcripts to WGU. Is there anyone who took statistics At WGU and how long did it take you? Thank you very much!!!
  19. Is there anyone from FL that is currently in WGU or had graduated from them? I am currently living in NY but will be moving.
  20. Lisa 1980, thank you very much. Another question is- since WGU give "pass" or"fail" grade and after I am done with WGU RN-BSN programm I might go for MSN. How do they look/evalute your grades pass/fail?
  21. Lisa 1980, did you have to take any pre-reqs before you took first nursing classes? After they evaluate your transcripts do they give you a complete list of classes you will need to graduate? Is theer a given time to complete a class, or there is a specific numbers of questions you have to complete to be "done" with a course?
  22. Thank you guys very much for your replies! Community health RN, I see that they evaluate each and every transcript differently, since you have to take 2 math and 1 art class along with nursing. Did they tell you that you can be done with all of it in 1 year? How do they calculate?
  23. Hi Christy 78 and everyone else!!! I am also very interested in WGU. First I was considering a regular college (meeting in class, etc.) but thought I'd save a lot more time doing it online (no travelling, parking, lectures), especially if it is said on their website that RN-BSN can be completed in 1 year. I have a few questions, that noone asked before, if you don't mind. 1.Does BSN diploma indicate that my degree is earned online? How soon do they mail you a diploma? 2.WGU website says that if you hold AAS in Nursing then "You will likely be able to transfer all requirements except nursing BSN classes". College I graduated from and got AAS in nursing did not give us a chemistry, nutrition, biochemistry or literature classes, does it mean that I will have to take it for WGU on line or should I take it in regular college (I am not so great at Chemistry and won't be able to study on my own) 3.What does WGU mean by these courses:??? Foundations Language and Communications Quantitative Literacy Behavioral Science 4.I am not looking to complete RN to BSN in 6 months, 1 year is fine with me. I am also very busy, smal children, full time job, approximately how many HRS a week I should study to complete my program in 1 year? 5.Do they have theirdead lines for papers, projects, tests, etc? Or they credit you when they receive your work? 6. Is it posible to ask the name(last name) or your advisor(since I see that many people would not go on with the program due to miscommunication with their advisor? Thank you very much for your help and good luck to everyone with their studies!!! P.s. Please forgive me for any mistakes , English is not my native language:)
