  1. Good news! Received my ATT on Friday and scheduled my tests a couple weeks out. Can't wait to get this over with!
  2. Good luck!! It's easier said than done, but try to relax. I live in Columbus and will be taking it in a few weeks. I don't think you'll ever feel totally prepared.
  3. Im in Ohio so our board is all messed up with the new electronic system they've implemented. All my stuff was submitted while I was still in school- the background check and finger prints. That was in early June if Im remembering correctly. I registered on pearson vue on July 9th. Here I am still waiting. It's very frustrating and Im losing the motivation to even study.
  4. Let me know if you get it in time. Im still waiting.
  5. Thanks guys for all the responses! Yes, I am from Ohio so I'm stuck waiting because of the mess they created. My fellowship starts Sept 12th, so I am just praying I'll be able to take it in the next couple weeks. I think it's beyond unprofessional that this happened, they should have had a better system in place to deal with this while implementing a new system. On the news they interviewed a nurse that transferred his license from out of state to Ohio and he said he's still waiting for the board to accept it? Not sure, but he's had to take a pizza delivery job because he can't work!
  6. Sadly, yes all of this has been submitted. I think I will call the BON and make sure nothing is wrong. Thank you!
  7. Hey! I graduated an ADN program on June 25 2016 and I'm still waiting to get the ok that I can call and schedule my NCLEX test date. I am so anxious and annoyed to have to wait this long. In school, they really push you to take it as soon as possible. So I'm wondering how long did you have to wait from graduation to you being able to schedule? I know I'm being a little impatient, but I also have a wonderful fellowship waiting on me and I really want to get started. Thank you!
  8. I worked full-time 7a-345p monday-Friday, had class sometimes Mon-Thurs from 5pm to 10pm and then had to take days off of work for clinicals that started at 645am-4pm. It was hard. It sucked. I cried... but I did it. I started nursing school part time in Sept 2013 and graduated this past June after increasing my school schedule to full-time to graduate sooner. I have a 6 year old daughter and she was a trooper the whole way through. Now I've been accepted into an ER Fellowship and I cannot wait to start! It will work out if you put the work in. Study time will come.. it might be at 11pm, but it will come. You just figure it out. I don't have much family to count on and I don't get any help from the government or "welfare". If you want it bad enough you will find a way and your child will always benefit from your sacrifices.
  9. I can totally feel for you!! I worried constantly about my daughter, but she was always with my sister or with a close family friend. It is a huge sacrifice, but it will always be worth it. I would just be afraid of leaving my kid at an overnight daycare... but I know that is the only choice sometimes and it wont last forever!!!

This is a great thread! I too will be starting in the ED as a new grad, and I would love any advice I can get!!
  11. This thread is wonderful! I just graduated Saturday with my ADN (YAY!) I have been accepted into a 17 week fellowship program at a level one trauma center pending boards. I am so nervous, excited and terrified. This thread gives me hope that I will be placed with a caring preceptor that will take time with me, allow me to ask questions and express concerns. Thank you to all the awesome nurses paving the way for us newbies!

@justsayin Thanks for your feedback. I dont know what to do about going to this school. I've heard good and bad things about the program, but i would think you would get that with any school. I've never had a problem with student services getting back to me. They always answer every question I have and seem very knowledgeable. I had to change the quarter im starting from fall this year to January, im having issues with my car so it's weird that you would talk about how they dont work with you with things like that. Do you like it at least? Is it a good program? I have been medical assistant for 6 years so I know how to draw blood, ekgs, finger sticks, all that clinical stuff so im not intimidated by going to clinicals and interacting with patients. I know there will be a lot of studying.... I do agree with you about financial aid, they dont seem quite with it to me. Please email me if you can, its hard for me to reply on this site for some reason, my email is [email protected]
  13. I didn't get it... can you try again or just give me your email and i'll try it that way!
  14. cocopie -- Thats awesome! I can't reply on this webiste with my phone so Im @ work doing this real quick. Send me an email if you would like to talk! [email protected]
  15. I have been a CMA for 6 years now and I am starting school in the fall. I think its a great idea! I have had a lot of experience in pediatrics and now I am working in a family practice office so all these years of working in the medical field has made me ready for school. What is an AAS? I decided to go for a two year RN program with no waiting list, I dont know what your area is like, but you can usually find a tech school with no waiting list and with no pre-req requirements. Just make sure the school is accredited. It seems like a great place and I cant wait to get started! Good luck with your career!
