showers on nightshift and time for residents to get up in the morning?
I work 7:30 pm to 8:00 am shift, and the cna's start getting the residents up and and bathed at 4:00 am. I think this is wrong, but I'm told this is how it's always been done. When the daylight shift gets there at 6 am they start complaining that not enough people are up yet. Meanwhile we have 6 cna's on midnight for 112 residents. How in the world are 6 people to bathe 112 people in two hours I'll never know. I can't tell you how many times the daylight shift will complain and try to get the midnight girls in trouble for "not doing enough", and how many times I've gone and defended my midnight staff. For some reason the 8-4 shift never thinks the midnight shift does enough work. It's so frustrating!!

Experience needed??
Hi, I found out 2 days ago that I passed my boards!! Yes!!! I have been searching for a job, and the problem I am now facing is that everywhere I have checked is only hiring RN's with at least a years experience! I knew that the hospitals around where I live require 1 year experience in order to work in Maternity or Psych, but I am now finding out that, that is required for other floors also, even Med-Surg. Has anyone else run across this to be true where your from? I can't get experience if nobody will give me a chance, Right?

where to work?
When I was in school I liked the clinical rotation I had working in a Nursing home. I thought I would apply for a job at the city owned nursing home, but after listening to someother students I went to school with, I'm not sure if that is the best idea for my first job, ( I just passed my nclex yesterday). I've heard people say that I will lose skills I recieved in school, and that I won't learn any new skills there either. I would appreciate any advice... Is it best to work in a hospital to gather experience and skills first? Thanks..

I passed!
I took my NCLEX exam on Wed, Aug 18th, and found out today that I passed! My computer shut off at 75 questions, which had me worried. Now that I know that I passed, and I'm going to apply for a job, I'm really nervous. Nursing school is so much different than the reality of an actual RN position. Is it just me or is this a normal feeling to have. I guess my worry is that I will be expected to know everything when actually I feel that I don't know enough.
