  1. Thank you, Gomer for all the advices and for patiently answering my questions. You've helped me so much. God bless...
  2. Thanks for the advise...Just wondering if you're familiar with the Hiring Nurse Group? They are the ones I'm dealing with. They also offered me a position in a psychiatric hospital. I'm quite hesitant about the offer. But I'm really having difficulty finding a sponsor since I only had 6mos experience in my country. I thought everything will be fine after Nclex but I guess I'm wrong. They said hospitals in California are really "choosy"(?)-they wanted someone with longer experience. Is this true?
  3. Yes I requested a copy of my result to be sent to ICHP. I also have an account with Cgfns but I guess it's not updated. I called them up this morning and I was put "on hold" for 30mins...then the operator told me he'll call me as soon as he finds my file. He never called anyway! I guess I have to call them up again next week. Thanks for your assistance. :-)
  4. That's really fast huh! I just hope I get lucky...By the way, do I need to ask ETS to send a copy of my TSE result? I took the TSE last year but I'm not sure if CGFNS has a copy of my result on file.
  5. Hi, eperey. The rate that they gave me excludes night differential...I'm not sure if there's a weekend differential though. If you don't mind, which hospital in LA gave you that rate? Did you go through an agency?
  6. It was the recruiter who gave me this rate. The company also promised to shoulder the lawyer's fees for the processing of my petition. Also promised to give me 3k as sign-on/relocation bonus...What do you think about it?
  7. Hi! I'm a foreign nurse with 6mos experience in my country. Just would like to know the going rate for RN's in L.A. I'm being offered 23.8/hr. Is this fair enough? I would highly appreciate your comments.
  8. Hi. Need info on how long it takes cgfns to process visa screening? I already have a file with them since I already have a cgfns certificate. Would it be an advantage? Thanks.
  9. Dear Kabayan, I myself am confused of what you really want for yourself. If you still intend to work in the US, I think you did the right thing. You take the Nclex and english exam first before coming back. Having a multiple visa is an advantage on your part. You can come back anytime after you pass the exams and it would be easier for you to look for a sponsor. If you want to work in a US state other than california, you can request for an endorsement of license (once you pass the nclex) from CA-BON to the state where you want to work. Cgfns is a requirement in some of the other states though (it's not required in cali). Since you're already waiting for your ATT, I suggest you focus your mind on your nclex preparation. So that when your ATT comes, you'll be prepared to face the nclex! Rest your mind and think of what you really want...YOU are the only person who knows what will make you happy. Good luck! I'll be praying for you.
  10. That's really good! You must be making really much money!LOL Anyway, thanks so much for patiently answering my querries. :-)
  11. Thanks for that, batmik. Your definitions gave me a clearer idea now. Some more questions though, please bear with me. Is TIME AND A HALF mandatory to all institutions? Is it applied in excess of 8hrs if I go on a 12hr night shift duty? What if the requirement is 36hrs/wk and I work an additional 12hr. Will time and a half be applied to the extra 12hrs?:)
  12. Hi! What's the difference between the two? Does time and a half apply to all night shifts? When does shift differential apply? I also heard about the term "blended rate". Please enlighten me... I know this is a simple question...I feel dumb:uhoh3: not knowing what this means. Thanks for answering.:)
  13. After 1month of waiting, I finally received the letter from CA-BON... I passed with 75 questions!!! You could not imagine what I was going through the whole time. Whew!!! Those were the longest days of my life. I'm so happy:chuckle GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!
  14. Thank you for the inputs about adevia. They interviewed me yesterday and they are currently looking for a prospective employer. I'm just wondering about the benefits that they gave you. I hope you don't mind elaborating. Did they reimburse you with the exam fees? How about signing bonus and this "settling program"? How long did it take them to process everything? Also, I heard stories about agencies taking a large share of nurse's salary. Did you get a fair pay? Please enlighten me. Thanks!
  15. Yeah I've heard stories about agencies getting cut from nurse's salaries. That's why I'm keen in choosing which one I should commit to. Thanks for the precaution, suzanne! :)
