They will most likely place you closest hospital :) you will do well. There are a lot of people who are working one or two days per week since the program. most people in this program are averaging about 75% and higher in all of the classes, esp the ones I've been in. :) will you be working?

Yeah, I know what you mean about daycare being so early. Make sure you e-mail D*** and let her know your situation. Depending on the hospitals you normally start @ 730am. Where are you located? Sometimes you have evening shift that ends @ 630pm. Again, it all depends on your hospital. So just bring it up to d*** and she can consider arrangements, they are pretty helpful in terms of that. There is a girl in my program and she's a mom of 4 kids under the age of 6. The work isn't hard, but there's just A LOT of workload. Very do-able and you will definityley have days where you wonder what the heck you got into lol. But its all worth it. For level 1, some of you will have Fridays off . In level 2, some people who have had fridays off will probably have mondays off in level 2. So thatll help for you if also email d*** :) I didn't get fridays off this semester and that's probably why I feel burnt out some days. Do you have anyone who could help you with your daughter in the morning?

Hi smiley :) I am basically a single parent myself. My bf is always working and never is homee. Tips? Front load a lot of your homework. You need about 2 hrs each night minimum for homework. I never do homework around my child, she's still a toddler, so I do ti when she's in bed. She's also in daycare which helps. Try to take all ur electives righht now, if you can so you can have the summer off :) and make sure to reviw patho once a week, it'll help you through the semester. Hi, I am currently in level 1 nursing program @ bcit. I had 54 credits post-secondary including english11777, psych 1, 2 libs 7001, 7002 and an elective course. I need to do health management and an elective in the summer. It is better to take all ur electives so u will have a free summer. Everyone that is in my program have a degree/bachelors. And there's a handful that are 20-21. You can definitely make it in. They really just want all your libs and electives taken :) its a very intense program and I have a child, it is do-able.

Hi kaay, That's awesome that you applied for the January intake. I can give you an insight as to how short-listing works as I have been through it, and totally understand how anxious/nervous and feeling right now! It will take maybe another few weeks (or less) if you get shortlisted. If you are shortlisted, they will ask for a letter of intent & your resume. After this, you will wait another few weeks and hear from them, if you are top-waitlisted, meaning you have a pretty high chance of getting in, you get an opportunity for an invite to orientation. If you don't attend the orientation, I'm sure they will understand. You receieve a package obtaining papers regarding scheduling, and what is expected of u as a student, etc etc etc. After orientation, they contact top-waitlisted people for those who dropped out. I got my call the very next day after orientation and got a seat! So your chances after being top-waisted is very high! I hope this helps, but like always, if you have doubts u can always contact the program instructors :)

Hey green tea, I did not get any info regarding the criminal check yet, but I am sure they will come in a few weeks. As for the 200 committment fee, did anyone receive the letter yet? I was top-waitlisted and was accepted into the august in-take. does anyone have nursing books level 1 that they are selling?

Hmm... I would say check with ***** or ******* to make sure. But I heard its better to have a degree, then take their libs, and have ur volunteer hours when u do apply for ur application. This way it shows that ur defiantly dedicated. But then again, I would check with them to make sure :)

Hamid: you should make sure that the libs transfer over. I know a lot of people who had degrees and bachelors in sciences, bio, etc, that did not transfer over and they had to take the ones bcit wanted. Its sort of a pain like that! But a lot of the libs do not transfer over, I think only 7001. Psych, english 1177 do, however just make sure u check otherwise on the transfer course on the bcit website .

Hamid: what I mean employment is that they also take into consideration your work. Say if you work @ a hospital or clinic, etc, that will factor in and possibly be a plus for your application, however, it isn't significant. You need more than 30post-secondary credit- I heard that they are accepting about min 60post secondary credits now- but do not quote me (I hear it is becuz there is a high number of applicants, that they have raised up the credits) what is significant is that you do take the 2 psych courses and 2 liberals (Libs 7001, Libs 7002) as they are required. Then there is also the other 2 liberals of ur choice, health management course and I believe English 1177 (not too sure with this, but I took it ) You want to do as much of these Libs as you can BEFORE u apply, just so that they know ur dedicated and plus it'll be a bonus when ur actually accepted, so that ur school work is a lot lesser during the summer - when students actually take these libs courses. I did 6 of the 8 liberals, and I have a certificate of care aide, and a total of 54 credits. I never volunteered because I had a lot of experience in the hospital setting during my practicum. I also have a child, and I am 23 years old. I think because I have always been around health care, was the reason why I got accepted in January- tophold list for August. So just make sure to do most of ur Libs to boost up ur credits, and volunteer plenty! I'm sure you will have a better chance next time u apply! Good luck, and I hope that helps! :)

Canucks- Thank you ! I am extremely excited, and I do hope they will contact me before August! Srmra-I also suggest that you take the Liberal courses and 2 psych courses they offer there. That is what they mainly look for (as I have done). Hamid:To be honest, BCIT do not care about your GPA score because although i had straight A's in my care aide program, and B+ in (BIO, ENG, CHEM, MATH), my Libs & Psychs were only B-; I only had about a GPA of 70%. Alot of people think that GPA (high) factors mainly on acceptance, but really, it isnt. They are mainly looking to see if your really dedicated into the nursing career and that your not in it just for the money. So they factor in alot of other things such as: libs/electives etc, volunteer, work experience etc. etc. A few of my friends are in the nursing program and said that all you need are a passing grade, however if you want to receieve free money, you need to maintain a certain GPA. I hope that helps! But if Im wrong, please let me know guys!

Hi everyone, Some what good news! I just received the letter via e-mail stating that I am top of the holding list for the august 2011 in-take. If I chose not to be on the holding list or do not get in, then I am deferred into January 2012's in-take!!! ( I have a seat for sure!) Does ANYONE know what the chances of "top hold-list" getting into the August intake mean? In addition, I was also invited to attend the orientation on May 12. I'm excited! I guess I will have my phone with me at all times during my trip to Mexico!!!! P.S Do they normally call you weeks before the nursing program if someone drops out of the nursing seat?

Hi everyone, I am so nervous, I got shortlisted for the August 2011 intake. I still am waiting for a letter/message from them. Ive heard that some people already receivced their acceptance letters already. Does this mean that the ones who wait the longest, will be sent a letter that they did not make it in? Has anyone else got a non-acceptance letter/message yet? *Fingers Crossed*
