Thanks for your excitement and concern, I really appreciate it. I'm also sorry to hear you got rejected too and I hope you find something else that you can enjoy. I also hope I do find something better, but I just find it really ridiculous that they had me fly out again when they weren't 100% or pretty darn close to it. I spoke with the UD on the phone prior to booking the second trip out. I had to make arrangements to go on another day than everyone else because I was in the middle of finals and graduation was just a few days away. I also expressed concern about the financial part of it and wanted to know how many more steps there were in the process following this second interview. The fact that I talked to her on the phone about all that and she still had me come out makes me furious. I will not work for UCLA ever after this experience. I understand that they're a great system, but there's something to be said for being great and humble, which apparently this particular unit is not.

wow I'm quite mad....I just got a rejection email from the PICU. They should reimburse me the $1000+ Dollars I spent to fly out there twice!

LOL!! I think that is exactly what is on everyone's minds...my phone is attached to my hip these days.

and Tai123...they told me that I would hear on Friday the 13th also, but I did not hear today...that's promising that none of us heard. Maybe they needed a bit more time. Good luck to you both!!!:)

Has anyone gotten offered a position by PICU? Or heard anything after their panel interview?

Don't worry too much yet, it may be for a second round of in-person interviews. That's what PICU is doing.

Also...not sure if they "officially" hired them. They may not have called them yet, but she did tell me they hired 4 last week...so they could have just chosen 4 and are waiting until they pick the remainder to notify everyone at once?

I believe they interviewed 8 last week as well...don't quote me on it though! lol. Are you in the running for the PICU?

I know PICU hired 4 people already. I just had a second interview (3rd counting the phone interview) and the UD said they're taking 10. I believe they're interviewing 8 this week, so I assume they'll choose 6 out of those 8.

To be honest I'm really not sure. I guess you could base it on the dates of the interviews maybe? I'm sorry to hear you haven't heard yet, just remember to be proud of yourself for making it as far as you did! You were one of the few out of over 1700 applicants! The competition is strict and I'm sure they have to turn down a lot of great candidates. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to get a call back, but if you don't I wish you the best with your career search :) Student1313 when is your second interview?

They left me a message, but it sounds like I'm paying for it again. I'm wondering how many interviews there are, I can't afford to keep flying out there, especially when I'm not guaranteed the job. I think PICU is just being really choosy. I read on a thread from last summer and people were saying there was like 3 interviews! After I pay to fly out for this panel interview I'll be almost up to $1000 in flights alone. How much more money do I have to spend?? I'm still in school, graduating in a week, so I'm not really financially stable at this point...I wish they would consider that a little more :/ Does anyone have any insight into the rest of the process?

I know it's a long shot, but I'm hoping some people still check this thread. I just finished my first interview (not counting the phone interview), with the unit manager. I just received a phone call for a 2nd interview, which they said would be a panel interview, and am planning on flying out soon. I'm wondering for those of you who got hired in PICU or any ICU for that matter how many rounds of interviews their are...it's really expensive for me to keep flying out and not even know if I'll get the job. Also, any one in the PICU, how do you like it? Any insight would be helpful. Thank you :)

I got a phone call back from the PICU on Friday to set up a panel interview (2nd in person interview). It was later at night though (like 7pm my time, which is 5pm CA time), so I wouldn't worry if you didn't get one yet. Just wanted to let you all know, since you all have been keeping me updated! :) Good luck to everyone.

I interviewed for the PICU also...they're hiring 10?!? That's great, I saw other units have been hiring less. RNwannabeLA where are you from? I don't get how they're going to do a second interview for those of us that are out of state...I can't afford another $550 flight :/
