Starting West Coast University April 2011
Yes they do! I work at a hospital in anaheim and we have hired a couple. I know a few hired at CHOC and CHLA. Many got into UCLA new graduate program. Also now that we are WASC accredited the degree looks even better! I have a few friends that have graduated and they say that at the end of the program that the school helps them find jobs. And we have a high NCLEX passing rate. Hope this helps! =)

venting about west coast university
wow I am shocked by your experience! I attend the Orange County campus and love it! My professors and the admin are wonderful! Maybe think of transfering if you can? I have never regretted leaving a CC for WCU. I was so tired of the teachers and the waitlists. I took physio at a CC and dropped due to a horrible teacher and thick accent. Took the same class at WCU and was surprised how much I learned! This term is almost over! I'm sorry for your situation hopefully it gets better! We will know soon about the WASC credit so maybe you will be able to transfer classes out.

Starting West Coast University April 2011
Sorry Monique it's been about a month since I've been on here lol. I'm almost done with my first term.Finals are next week! Getting ready to start biochem and cutural pluralism. I currently work the night shift 3pm-1130pm. The school gives our schedules out about a month ahead of when the classes start. My boss is very understanding of me going to school so he works with the days I have school. This current term I have class one day a week and now next term is just two days. As I've gotten into the groove of how these classes and homework works I have more free time. It takes a few weeks to figure out how to manage your time. I'm not nearly as over whelmed and have straight A's. Have you decided? =)

Starting West Coast University April 2011
Hi Monique! Yes I do work full time and I am a full time student. But I'm not gonna lie it is hard! I have a complete map out that I do each sunday night of my entire week. I have three calendars that I keep everything very organized on. I know each day I have something to read, something to study, and something that is do online. I cannot fall behind or I will freak out! lol. Unlike a lot of my fellow students I do not have the opportunity to not work while going to school. I plan to work full time until I start clinicals next april. Trying to bank as much cash as possible for the debt ahead lol. Right now I'm doing ok but it's still my first term...next I have biochem! So fingers crossed I can handle it lol. I'm currently looking into a different job at the hospital I work at so I can work 12hour shifts just three days a week unlike the 5-6day 8hr shifts I work now. Over all I really do enjoy wcu! It's tough work but I feel like I just started and I already have midterms next week! It just flies right by! Any more questions feel free to ask. I know a lot of people are very negative about west coast but being at school is a completely different experience. Good luck! =)

Nadi is so right! U have to stay on top of your work! I just finished reading and its 130am on a Saturday night...I study EVERYDAY to be able to go to school and work full time. But its so worth it and I'm loving my classes! Good luck! Hard work pays off! I work in a hospital and have seen plenty of nurses lately who have just graduated or about to graduate from WCU.

white underwear under white scrub bottoms?
OMG! I would literally have to buy all new panties! lol Thank god my school has dark blue bottoms and white tops. I would wear the nude colored or go buy white spanky shorts that they wear under cheer uniforms. Thats what I do when I go out in a tiny dress or skirt. At work I always wear thongs under my scrubs, hate seeing the other nurses with panty lines...no thanks lol. Or just get the leggings but the really thin kind that stop at the knee. Good luck hun this sounds awfull!=(

West Coast University BSN program- EXPERIENCE
Hello arreanamarie! So far Paige and I really like it! We both have physiology at the moment. We are getting started on the 3rd week of our first term so still getting know how it all works. My professor is actually a doctor at a local hospital which is very encouraging! We have exams every week. It's a lot of studying and homework but this is to be expected when your classes are only 9 weeks instead of 16-18 like other colleges. The cost of the program with no prereqs done is $132,000 I transferred 5 or 6...I don't remember and that dropped it down to $116,000. Now that price includes your books, uniform, and fees as well. I have chosen to buy books outside of the school website which will save me a tiny bit lol. If you are ready for the big commitment, cost, and are tired of wait lists I really do encourage wcu. Any more questions let me know! =)

West Coast University June 2011
Well I got the parent plus loan so I had to have my dad sign for that. I liked it better since it was a fix rate of 7.9% unlike the private loans. They can go any where from like 6% to 11%. I also got the federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans.

Hello all! I am starting west coast this month in two weeks actually! I'm very excited! I am planning to attend the anaheim campus. Just some updates.... -I have had zero problems so far with any faculty. -My counselor has been amazing and answers any questions I have. -All my classes transferred. I transfered five classes total from my local JC. Which dropped my cost from $132,000 to $116,000. I was able to get the subsidized and unsubsidized loans as well as qualified for the parent plus loan. I have great credit, but with the parent plus the interest rate is fixedat 8% unlike a private loan. I have some money saved up as well to start making payments. The cost is not really an issue with me as I also do not have a house, kids, or family to provide for. -Our schedules came out a month early and gave us plenty of time to order books. Which we had the choice to order online with WCU or on our own through ebay/amazon/etc. -As far as WASC goes we have been getting forms from WCU updating us of the status. WASC is visiting the school this september and should have a response by early next year. Fingers crossed they get WASC accredited! -Many people have questions reguarding Cal States and accepting WCU credits....well I called CSUF personally and the head of nursing said that they acknowledge your RN but the credits do not transfer. So your nursing classes are ok but more than likely you will need to redue any pre reqs they require if you did not take at a JC before hand. Now this is all if WCU does not get the WASC acceptance. I encourage anyone to callthe school they are looking into for their MSN to see what their policy is. So far everything has been great.I have talked with a few students from anaheim andthey love it andthe professors.Iwillkeep everyone updated! :)

Cocaine in breastmilk?
I'm not sure about cocaine passing through breast milk but I do know other common drugs can. My mom had been put on a perscription after my sister was born and told repeatedly by her doctor that it would not pass through the breast milk to the baby. Well sure enough it did! My sister was passed out! My mom would wiggle her, gave her a bath, did everything she could to wake her baby up and nothing. Sure enough it was the medicine the doctor had put my mom on and knocked the baby out. Sometimes doctors really just don't know how much the baby could actually be getting.

taaadaaaaa! hahah we need 15 posts :smackingf haha how do i send private messages? private messages work a little like email, but are limited to registered members with 15+posts. you may include bb code, smilies and images in private messages that you send. you may send a private message to a member by clicking the 'send new message' link in the private messaging section of your user control panel, or by clicking the 'send a private message' icon that appears in a member's posts when you click on their username. when you send a message, you have the option to save a copy of it in your 'sent items' folder.

I don't think I shld share with the world where I work lol but I will private message u it if I can find how to do that haha. O cool I took anatomy, english I, psych, soci, speech, and I took a chem as well but they said I wld still need an organic chem to equal their class....so I didn't care I just wanted to start already! Lol I was taking physio and micro but I wasn't learning much at the community college so decided to drop and just take at wcu. Hopefully understand better there. Yay we will prob have classes together! Right now I work in sterilization at the hospital preping trays for surgery. Not very exciting and no patient contact unfortunately but have my foot in the door lol. I try to stay familiar with the staff and nurses in departments so when ready I can transfer over =)
