  1. Hi all! This is my first post on AllNurses.com although I've been reading other posts for the past several weeks. What a great way to get information! I currently have a bachelor's degree in another field, but have made the decision that I want to go into nursing. I live in the Los Angeles area and am a little overwhelmed by all of the program options! I know there are a few AccBSN programs which are great, but what if I am not able to get into one of those? I plan to start taking prerequisite classes this summer, but want to have some sort of back-up plan if I don't get my first pick. What are your thoughts on getting into a program at a community college and then completing the BSN at a university (I definitely want a BSN)? What four-year universities in the area accept those with a bachelor's degree even though they might not have an accelerated program? What is the time frame for completing each of these programs? I still plan to apply for an AccBSN program....should I move forward with those prerequisite courses? I would love to hear from those of you who have been in the same position! Thanks for your help!
