  1. I have been in LTC/Rehab for 17 years now. Mostly it is a dead end job. Not to put any of you down. I am a nurse that thursts for learning. If you want excitement in your job go apply at a hospital. You will not find such disorgination and you will have few patients. You are a young nurse learn as much as you can. Remember you worked very hard for you license. You dont want to loose it over a facility or another nurse. Speak with your supervisor first about the issue. If you do not get the results you want then go to the DON. If you still do not feel comfortable give your notice and leave. Then in the mean while go apply at a hospital and see what they have to offer you. Just remember a nurse is never with out a job we are always in demand. After you are a nurse for a year you can become a travel nurse and go where ever you want to. You choose how long and where you want to be. The money is much better. Any way good luck to you. :monkeydance:
  2. This a sad thing that has happened to Julie but, what has happened to the 3 checks that we are suppose to do? We are all taught this in school. I graduated 9 years ago and still practice it. Plus when in dought have another nurse check it as well. Im sorry but, how could those 2 meds get mixed up? There was no emergancy. She may not deserve to go to jail, but she took someones life. We all need to remember what we are taught in school. Yes our hospitals are short handed thats no excuse. The public still depends on us to do our job and help them when in need. Think of it this way. What if that was your daughter? What would you be doing about it? The same as that family is. Wanting someone to pay for there mistake. :redlight: Come on yall lets keep our heads straight and do our jobs right lives depend on it.

I am with Preffered Health care. I get approx 5,000 a month. Thats for a LPN charge nurse. Hope that helps you. Travelers make great money depending on what you are practing.
  4. Most of the time when you come across a mean nurse they just need some kindness thrown their way. Most older nurses are set in their ways, and when they are always getting new CNA's it just makes them miserable. And when you have CNA's that are demanding or just B's them selves it just does not make life easy for anyone.
  5. You already know what the womans body looks like. All woman look alike except for size. I am sure you know what the man looks like. And them the same they all look alike except for size. Their should not be anything embarressing about the human body. If you feel uncomfortable how do you think you will make the patient feel? The human body is just that a body that you have to take care of. Do you have children? If so how do you feel when you give them a bath? Taking care of an adult is no different. Just a bigger package. How comfotable are you with your own body?:imbar
  6. Yes it is rare to see male nurse, but us females love to have a man on board. Not just because it is a change in view. Men help alot. Their are pt. that are hard to handly for the litttle nurses. When a man walks in the door the male pt. tend to behaive alittle better.
  7. I am orginally from New York up state. A town called Cortland.
