I do not know for sure where the CH building is either, but I did pull up the GPC Clarkston campus map and it says on here that it is next to the tennis courts???

Hey guys - I thought the same with the uniform - the pants run pretty large and I got a small. I am usually probably a six, and they were plenty big. The top I got a small too, and it feels very fitted, and I have no chest at all, so I think the top runs smaller than the pants, but that's just me. For the flu shot what did everyone end up doing?? I have not sent in my form, I was just going to bring it in tomorrow - hope that's ok!! But I never got a flu shot as everywhere I went they all said it is not available at all. But am nervous about not having it.

Has everyone gotten their shots yet? I went to get mine yesterday, and didnt know what to do about the Hep B - I dont think I have ever had those, so I got the first shot, but it will take 3 months to get all of them!! What did ya'll do, are you just signing the waiver??? Thanks!

Just completed CPR - it was really easy - one more thing checked off the list - but I ordered Med-Surg Nursing through amazon, and they are out FYI
  7. mg100 replied to metoyou's topic in Georgia Nursing
Why is my CPR class 6 hours long? Did you do it through the American Red Cross? They said this was the certification for CPR AED for Professional Healthcare Providers......wonder if I signed up for the wrong thing.

Hey Bearcat194 I will look at that post, thanks! For the stethoscope I have not purchased that because there is such a range in price, I have read some older posts that say to go ahead and invest in the better ones, but I am hesitant, I need more info first. So did you buy two sets of uniforms and a Lab coat?

Hi guys I also ordered Fundamentals through Amazon for $97. I have Amazon Prime so shipping is free, but I have a friend who is in the program now, and she said she set up a student account through Amazon and gets free shipping. Is everyone going to order the two volume set for Med-Surgical Nursing (#2 on the list)? My friend said you only need the first one for the 1st semester, but she ended up using the 2nd one because teacher liked for students to have a 2nd reference. This is getting expensive!!

Has anyone bought uniforms yet? I guess we are supposed to get the zip top and pants? Am wondering about all the other supplies too, and if this is the best place to get them.
  13. mg100 replied to metoyou's topic in Georgia Nursing
Ok, good to know! Thanks for the info, I will just be prepared for anything. So are you in the bridge program? Good luck to you, only two semesters to go!

3 times - thank you for all of the info, I really appreciate it. So when you are at the school what hours are your classes - you said 9 am, so is it all day or a few hours? How many days a week are you actually at the school. What facility were you at for clinicals? Sorry for all the questions - I promise I wont ask any more!! I wish they would send us info about what to expect for the schedule. Honestly, they are not very friendly over there which is making me nervous! Hopefully the instructors are not like that.....

Bearcat, me too - I was in the 3.3 range, and did not think it would be good enough, so I think I was close!! Congratulations and good luck in the fall! I am getting excited but nervous too.

keepmovinglpn, are you in the program now? I am sooooo curious what the schedule is like. How was first semester - are you at the school everyday and what hours are you there? I have children and am wondering if I will have issues getting them to and from school, etc. Thanks!

Nurse2b, I finally got in on my second try with a 3.33 and an 80 on TEAS. But the first time I applied I had about a 2.8 and did not get in. So I agree that GPC definitely looks more at GPA. There were people with lower TEAS than myself with highter GPA's that got in. I think it would be difficult to get in with a GPA below a 3.0. Good luck to you!

I applied in January, as the deadline was the end of January. You would want to apply closer to the deadline, so the courses you are taking can be considered for your acceptance. Summer would be really early to apply, and there is no benefit to applying early. Have you thought about contacting the nursing department and meeting with an advisor? They could tell you exactly what you need to do. As far as the TEAS, I believe I took it in January as well. What happens is you apply, then if you meet the mimimum qualifications, they invite you to sit for the TEAS. And then they will send you the available dates to take it. I am not sure if it is done all year long. But the nursing department would be able to give you more info on that. When were you planning to begin nursing school? Good Luck with everything!!

Hey Kiki - I know, everyone in the GTC group seems so nice!! Would love to do lunch with you and tygas, that would be fun!! So lets keep in touch -
  20. Congratulations, and good luck to everyone!!!

Hi Kiki, good luck at GTC - it looks like I will be going to GPC after all, it was a hard decision, but it makes the most sense! Would love to keep in touch and hear how things are going for you. It is going to be a crazy two years!!!

I did the survey and got the passport photo from CVS - that's it. Tomorrow I will go and pay my fee, and send everything in. The books are a little pricey - hope that is all we have to buy for a while! How about you?? Oh and I did buy that Test Success book they suggested that we buy. Haven't looked at it yet though.
  23. mommybear, thank you for all of the info. It sounds like you are really happy! That is great! So like what was your schedule the first semester. Are you at the school 2 days a week or 3? And then one day for clinicals? Was it really hard? Do you like your teachers? Some of my GPC friends have said it is brutal there - like you eat drink and breathe nursing school.....So what are the hours? Just trying to figure out how I will juggle my schedule in the Fall. Sorry for all of the questions....!! Thanks again!
  24. mommybear9, thank you for the info regarding GPC vs GTC - I have heard some of those same things about GPC, that the teachers are not so nice. I have encountered it somewhat in dealing with admissions, like they really dont care. So I need to do some more research on GTC. So what was your first semester schedule like? What hospital were you assigned to? Thanks again for reaching out to us.......
